Curious George

Curious George

Curious George (Curious George in the American original) is a children's animated series based on the children's book series of the same name that features Jeff Bennett as the voice of Ted Shackelford (credited as "The Man in the Yellow Hat", formerly called that in the original series books and TV series books). Frank Welker, who voiced George in the 2006 film, returns as the voice of him. The animated series premiered on PBS Kids on September 4, 2006 and originally concluded after nine seasons on April 1, 2015 before returning in 2018.

On September 3, 2018, Season 10 premiered on Family Jr. in Canada. Seasons 10-13 debuted on NBC Universal's Peacock streaming service in the United States in July 2020. Curious George seasons 1-9 are available to stream for Peacock Premium subscribers from September 20, 2020, which is also available for streaming on Hulu. Curious George season 10 premiered on PBS on October 5, 2020.

Curious George is a production of Universal 1440 Entertainment (Universal Studios Family Productions before 2013), Imagine Entertainment and WGBH-TV (WGBH Kids) (before season 13), and animated by Toon City. Each episode has two animated segments per half-hour episode and one short live-action segment each.

The live-action shorts illustrate and explain various math and science concepts and show a class with children engaged in experiments, teaching the math or science concept presented in the previous story. This was shown for Seasons 1-9 during his early runs. They have been removed from reruns since season 10, and future airings of previous episodes also remove them.

Characters

George (vocal effects by Frank Welker) is a chimpanzee, the main protagonist of the show. George is overly curious and often causes unintentional trouble. In the animated series and books he is used as a "teachable" character in the show, and is the one to whom the other characters teach lessons. He is a character that children love to watch and learn from.

The man in the yellow hat he is the man who first befriended George and also serves as his primary teacher and mentor. In a deleted scene from 2006, it was revealed that his real name is Ted Shackleford. He doesn't wear the hat at home, but he wears it when he goes out in public. Man often has bad luck and makes mistakes (such as constantly losing his hat, being in the wrong place at the wrong time, tasting something awful with a sour reaction, etc.). He's also absent-minded and a bit self-conscious. His catchphrase when he leaves George alone is often "Be a good little monkey." Another slogan is “Come on. I can't be late”, used whenever the Man leaves with George. He never gets mad at George no matter what he does.

What his occupation is can be guessed in the episode "Curious George and the Invisible Sound" he was asked to observe the animals around the country house, suggesting that he has the same occupation as he did in the 2006 film. also the leader of a troop of the Sprouts, to which George and Bill belong. The man makes a couple of references to "going to work"; however, we never find out what he is referring to. He owns a country house that has been in his family since childhood; and he also lives in a spacious, high-income apartment building in the city.

The man mostly drives a yellow convertible car as his primary mode of transportation around the country; however, he usually walks when he stays in the apartment. The man's hobbies include playing the tuba, bowling, drawing and painting pictures, and running long distances. He also paints in the style of HA Reydrawings. He won an award for being the first to climb and map what became known as Yellow Hat Mountain and finished XNUMXth in a marathon. No mention of his parentage is ever made, aside from an occasional reference to his mother in some episodes.

Narrator he is the unnamed narrator who narrates the events of each episode of the show. He mainly talks about the feelings of George and the man with the yellow hat along with their actions.

Chef Pischetti is an Italian chef in town who owns a restaurant with his wife. George visits him often and often helps him out by running errands and chores around the restaurant. The Chef often uses fresh vegetables that he grows in a roof garden. His name is a reference to the way some children pronounce the word "spaghetti". Often, when things seem to be going wrong, the chef's catchphrase is "I'm ruined!" He often threatens to never cook again if there is any problem with his food. He often refers to George as the Italian equivalent of “Giorgio” and refers to the Man with the Yellow Hat at least once by an Italian name when speaking to George, calling him “Your friend with the Big Yellow Hat, or “Big hat yellow". (Incidentally, Google Translate says that "Big Yellow Hat is said as big yellow hat.)

Netti she is the wife of chef Pisghetti.

Meatball: it is chef Pischetti's cat. He hates the blue ribbon he wears around his neck.

The goalkeeper he is the doorman of the apartment building where George and the man in the yellow hat live. He is the owner of Hundley. When on duty, she wears red British sentry-like clothing; other than a red cap only. When he went camping with George and Hundley, he wore an outfit somewhat similar to that of a Canadian Mountie. She is friendly and always likes to see George. She keeps a coop of carrier pigeons on the roof of the building. Like the man in the yellow hat, the goalkeeper's name is never mentioned. The goalkeeper has a noticeable Brooklyn accent.

Professor Wiseman she is a scientist friend of George and the Man in the Yellow Hat. In several episodes she is seen to be a rocket scientist and she works at a local museum. Her name is a pun on wise man. You appear to have an occupation directly related to the man in the yellow hat. She is often invited to spend time with the Man in the Yellow Hat and George.

Steve e Betsy they are brothers from George's neighborhood in the city. They live with their aunt Margaret and their dog, Charkie. Steve likes video games and is always "hunting for a record" of some kind. He is the eldest son of the duo and always gets ideas on how to solve a problem. He often tells George, “I'm in fifth grade. It has to work." In the episode Piñata Vision, their aunt called him by his full name, Steven. Betsy is more responsible and caring and she often pulls a red wagon. She is often annoyed with Steve and has to correct her mistakes for him. She is in third grade. Bill is apparently Steve and Betsy's country counterpart. They don't appear in the same episode until Season XNUMX, in "Chasing Rainbows." In that episode Bill's ignorance of George being a monkey is cleared up by them. However, he still doesn't understand the fact.

Hundley: it is the porter's dachshund dog. He is a neat freak and hates when George makes a mess in the hall. He is allergic to cats, but loves Lucky very much, with whom he plays with wearing a muzzle.
