In 1973 Toei Animation in Japan produced an anime entitled "Miracle Shoujo Limit-chan"(Little Limit, miracle girl), come to us in 1981 with the title of Miracle Girl Limit-chan. The TV series, consisting of 25 episodes and based on the manga of the same name by Shinji Nagashima, tells the story of a young girl who died in a plane crash with her mother, but brought back to life by her scientist father, who cannot give himself peace due to the loss of two people most loved by him. Cybernella thus returns to live as a cyborg, but must hide her new nature from everyone.

The episodes of the Cybernella anime show the protagonist's life, mostly focused on her days at school and the stories of her friends and classmates. Among the main characters stands out the character of Boss, a burly companion and braggart who is often in contrast with Cybernella even if she does everything to attribute to him the good and amazing actions that she performs with the use of hers. powers. In fact, the girl is endowed with some abilities that she must keep secret from others, such as her nature: by rotating a gear placed on her chest and disguised as a pin, Cybernella can acquire super-strength, run very fast and grow until she assumes the appearance of an adult. Using these powers allows her to often save her friends from all kinds of dangers. She also has a cap that she needs to communicate with her father, recording his voice inside and making it fly to him. Even the dog-cyborg Go is special, in fact he can fly and follow Cybernella even when she runs at full speed.

Cybernella's powers put the anime in the gods' vein maho shojo ("magical girl") or Majokko, a genre of anime and manga in which the young protagonists are endowed with magical powers. Souls famous in Italy like The Enchanting Creamy, Sally the sorceress, Ransie the witch and many others, broadcast in the eighties mostly by local television networks, as in the case of Cybernella. For this anime, however, there is a difference compared to all the others: Cybernella's powers do not derive from magic, but from the ingenuity of her father scientist who transformed her from a human being into a cyborg. Unlike the other protagonists, moreover, the secret of Cybernella's powers must be kept not for fear of losing her extraordinary abilities, but for the fear of revealing her diversity to others and therefore not being accepted.

Her condition as a cyborg weighs heavily on the girl, who in the first episode of the anime reflects on her own playing on the piano about what she is, being neither a robot nor a human being, and envying the robot dog Go, her companion of adventures, which does not have to hide its nature in front of others. During her reflections, Cybernella also remembers the accident, and the words of her father who in saving her life in his laboratory tells her that he wants her to live, even at the cost that she is no longer a human being. These memories are very painful for Cybernella, who also suffers from loss of mother, as will be revealed later in the anime. The latter theme, although little developed from the animated series, is present in many anime and manga for girls.

Il inner torment Cybernella is often reintroduced during the episodes, as in the fourth episode. Here Cybernella falls in love with a schoolmate, but again finds herself reflecting on hers diversity, and the inability to grow like everyone else. The realization that she is not normal precipitates the girl into a desperate cry. Also in the sixth episode of the series, Lite with the father (original: Daddy I hate you!), Cybernella is convinced that her father does not participate in the day at school with her parents because he does not love her, as she is a robot and not a normal child. Her father does not have time to explain to her what important commitments have held him back and how much he did not want to miss, that Cybernella runs away, feeling the full weight of her loneliness. The situation will in a certain way be unlocked in the last episode, when Cybernella decides to reveal her secret to her teacher, thus starting to accept herself and facing the reaction of others to her nature.

The anime shows his very clearly Japanese setting: the organization of the school with the work entrusted to the students in turn, the writing in ideograms, the food and the traditional houses with the tatami floors and the low tables, the new year with its decorations and even the preparation of the traditional dessert made of crushed rice (mochi). The sixth episode already mentioned illustrates a very common custom in Japanese schools, namely Parents' Day. On this day, parents attend their children's lessons and share their time with them and their teachers. Even the names of the characters for the most part remained the originals, while the use of the adaptation to names more familiar to Italian came a few years later, especially for the series broadcast by national networks.
