This fall, the hangover-loving, swashbuckling, fear-defying feline from DreamWorks Animation is back! For the first time in over a decade, a new adventure in the Shrek universe unfolds as the daring outlaw The cat with the boots he finds that his passion for danger and disregard for safety have taken their toll. Universal Pictures today unveiled a first image featuring the mustachioed hero, his companion in adventure Kitty and a new canine companion, and the list of rumors that give birth to Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.
In the highly anticipated sequel, the cat burned eight of his nine lives (though he lost count along the way). Recovering those lives will send Puss in Boots on his greatest mission ever. Oscar nominee Antonio Banderas returns as the voice of the infamous PiB as he embarks on an epic journey into the Black Forest to find the mythical Wish Star and restore his lost lives. But with only one life left, the cat will have to humble himself and seek help from his former partner and nemesis: the charming Kitty Soft Paws (Oscar nominee Salma Hayek).
In their quest, the cat and kitten will be aided, against their best judgment, by a chatty, talkative and relentlessly cheerful bastard, Perro (Harvey Guillén, What We Do in the Shadows). Together, our trio of heroes must stay one step ahead of Goldilocks (Oscar nominee Florence Pugh, Black Widow) and the three bear crime family, "Big" Jack Horner (Emmy winner John Mulaney , Big Mouth) and the terrifying bounty hunter, The Big Bad Wolf (Wagner Moura, Narcos).
The comedic cast also includes Oscar winner Olivia Colman, Ray Winstone (Black Widow), Samson Kayo (Sliced), Emmy nominee Anthony Mendez (Jane the Virgin) and Tony Da'Vine nominee Joy Randolph (Trolls World Tour).

Joel Crawford directs this epic sequel to the 2011 Oscar-nominated blockbuster, starring Mark Swift as producer, the creative team behind DreamWorks Animation's smash The Croods: A New Age. The executive producer of the film is Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri.
The Puss in Boots character first appeared in Shrek 2, which was nominated for an Oscar in 2004, and immediately became a global sensation to steal the show. The cat went on to star in two other Shrek sequels and his solo film, as well as several DreamWorks Animation videos and TV series. The Shrek and Puss in Boots films have collectively earned over $ 3,5 billion worldwide.
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish will be released in theaters on September 23rd. The first official trailer will arrive soon, so stay tuned!
