Concept Art Awards 2020; named Miyazaki and Froud the recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award

On September 12, the Concept Art Association will hold its annual ceremony Concept Art Awards, Presented by LightBox Expo, in the virtual space. Hosted this year by Max Greenfield  e Carla Renata , the event is the first of its kind to recognize and raise awareness of the role of concept artists in the world of film, television, video games, virtual reality and more.

Il Concept Art Association was created with the mission to elevate and raise the profile of concept artists, their art and their involvement in various entertainment sectors. At the heart of their organization is an annual Concept Art Awards exhibition, where these behind-the-scenes people working in entertainment concept art gain visibility and recognition for their craft. The Concept Art Association was founded by Talent Manager Rachel Meinerding and producer and co-founder of the BRIC Foundation, Nicole Hendrix.

This year for Lifetime Achievement Awards the creator and co-founder of Studio Ghibli will be presented, Hayao Miyazaki (My neighbor Totoro, The Enchanted City) and legendary fantasy artist Brian froud (The dark crystal, labyrinth). These pioneers pushed the world of concept art forward and paved the way for entertainment artists from around the world. The LBX Concept Art Luminary Award, which celebrates a person from the concept art community who made an impact with their work over the past year, will be presented at Christian Alzmann for his work on The Child in Star Wars: The Mandalorians.

During the event, artists will be awarded for their artistic excellence in the Professional categories of Live Action for movies and series, Animation for movies and series, Games (both mobile and PC / console), VR, and then Original / Independent Concepts Student Work and fan art. The art was presented by projects such as The Last of Us Part II, Klaus, Birds of Prey, Frozen II, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and many others.
