Galaxy High - The 1986 animated series

Galaxy High (ギ ャ ラ ク シ ー ・ ハ イ ス ク ー ル) is an American-Japanese science fiction cartoon series that premiered September 13, 1986 on CBS and aired for 13 episodes through December 6, 1986. The series was created by Chris Columbus and it included music and a theme song composed by Don Felder. The series was then shown in reruns on the Sci-Fi Channel's Cartoon Quest.

History

Two Earth teenagers are admitted to Galaxy High School intergalactic high school on the fictional asteroid Flutor. Teenager, Doyle Cleverlobe, was a seasoned and popular athlete, while teen Aimee Brighttower was shy and, as the acronym puts it, "the smartest girl in school, not very popular, not very cool".

But once in space, their roles are somewhat reversed. Alien teenagers seem to accept the not-so-popular Aimee, while Doyle tends to rub aliens the wrong way.

Although Doyle finds himself an outcast and has difficulty adapting, Aimee does not abandon him and suggests that he make friends and bring glory to Galaxy High, through his excellent sporting skills, which he does by winning a championship of "psych-hockey", which Galaxy High had always lost in the past.

The show leaves many hints of a budding romance between Doyle and Aimee, but they have never been given time to grow as the show hasn't been renewed for a second season.

The aliens in the school included Gilda Gossip, the girl with a big mouth (or rather mouths). Booey Bubblehead, a distracted girl with a bubble in her head, Milo de Venus, the six-armed class president. Beef and the Bonk Bunch who mistreats Doyle (and most of the students at Galaxy High).

Creep, a little alien who looks like something between a fat cherub and a yellow marshmallow who had a huge crush on Aimee, which often revealed herself serenading as a Las Vegas Lounge Singer.

Teachers are even more unusual than students: Ms. Biddy McBrain has a light bulb attached to her head, while Coach Frogface eats flies, and Professor Icestein has to keep his class cold to keep it from melting.
