G.I. Joe (GI Joe: A Real American Hero in the American original) is an animated TV series by Ron Friedman, based on the hit toy line of the same name from Hasbro. the comic was distributed in syndication from 1983 to 1986. [6] 95 episodes were produced
History

When Hasbro launched the GI Joe: A Real American Hero in 1982 alongside the Marvel Comics series, it commissioned Marvel Productions to produce a series of 30-second fully animated television commercials, which were aired in order to promote the series. comics, as the advertising regulations for a literary work were more lax than for a direct toy commercial, starting with an ad for the first issue that ran throughout the spring of 1982. The popularity of these commercials led to production of a five-part GI Joe miniseries that aired in 1983 (later known as “The MASS Device” when it was re-aired during the series [citation needed]).
The plot centers on the title MASS Device, a powerful material transporter, and GI Joe and Cobra race around the world to acquire the three catalytic elements that power the machine. A second five-part miniseries followed in 1984, GI Joe: The Revenge of Cobra (titled "The Weather Dominator" in later broadcasts), with a similar storyline involving the Joes and Cobras traveling around the world to retrieve the fragments. scattered about Cobra's new time control weapon, the Time Vanquisher. Both miniseries were written by Ron Friedman.
GI Joe was promoted to a full series in 1985, with an initial order for a first season of an additional 55 episodes (in order to recover the 65 episodes required for release). This season began with a third five-part adventure written by Friedman, "The Pyramid of Darkness"; The story sees most of the existing cast of the two previous miniseries held captive by Cobra, while a new assortment of characters (i.e. the new 1985 range of toys) thwarts Cobra's attempts to surround Earth with the Pyramid denying the electricity of darkness. Both the new and old characters then shared the spotlight over the course of the remaining fifty episodes of the series, which were mostly standalone single-episode adventures, with the occasional two-part storyline. The season was curated by Steve Gerber.
A second season of 30 episodes followed in 1986, starting with a fourth story in five parts, "Arise, Serpentor, Arise!" in which Cobra scientist Doctor Mindbender, inspired by a recurring dream, uses the DNA of history's most ruthless conquerors and rulers to genetically engineer Serpentor, who usurps Cobra's leadership of Cobra Commander. This miniseries introduced the new 1986 toy range into the story, which was at the center of most of the stories for the rest of the season; most notably, the miniseries debuted former WWF and then-current AWA pro wrestler Sgt. Slaughter as a member of GI Joe, played solo. For this season, Buzz Dixon has replaced Steve Gerber as the story editor.
Film

GI Joe: The Movie, a theatrical version of the series, was to be released in theaters, followed by the release of The Transformers: The Movie. However, the film encountered unexpected production delays which allowed the first release of Transformers. Due to the poor box office performance of the Transformers and My Little Pony films, GI Joe was relegated to home video distribution. It was released on VHS on April 20, 1987 and was later split into a 5-part miniseries for television broadcasting.
The film follows the events of the second season, revealing that Cobra Commander is actually an agent of a secret civilization known as Cobra - led by a half snake called Golobulus. It is also revealed that the same organization played a role in the creation of Serpentor, as the dream that inspired Dr. Mindbender to create it turns out to be a subconscious suggestion that was implanted in his mind by one of Golobulus's bugs called the Psychic Motivator. In addition to Cobra-La, two new sub-teams were introduced within the Joe Team, the Rawhides and the Renegades, both composed of characters who were introduced to the toyline during its 1987 formation.
