'Goodbye, Don Glees!' Atsuko Ishizuka's film 

Acclaimed animation producer and distributor GKIDS has acquired the North American distribution rights of Goodbye, Don Glees! Produced by the successful Madhouse studio, the film is the writer / director's first original feature film atsuko ishizuka , who previously directed the acclaimed series A Place Further Than The Universe . GKIDS will release the film in both the original Japanese and a brand new English language dub this year.

Goodbye, Don Glees! follows the story of three friends over the course of a summer as their garden adventures turn a small accident into a life-changing journey. It was released domestically in February 2022 and stars the famous Japanese voice actors Ayumu Murase (Shoyo Hinata in Haikyu !! ), Natsuki Hanae (Tanjiro Kamado in Demon Slayer ), Kana Hanazawa (Akane Tsunemori in Psycho-Pass ) is Yuuki kaji (Eren Jaeger in The attack of the Giants ). The film is represented internationally by Kadokawa.

Plot: The young misfits Roma, Toto and Drop are called “Don Glees”, an informal name for their adventures in the garden. One day, when the trio are accused of a nearby forest fire, they go to the woods to prove their innocence. When disaster strikes their expedition, tensions flare up among friends as they realize that growing up has taken them on entirely different paths in life.

Director Atsuko Ishizuka follows up on her critically acclaimed series  A farther place in the universe  with his first original feature film. With glowing animations and lush backgrounds, Goodbye, Don Glees! is a tender coming-of-age story about the fearlessness of being young and the bittersweet journey of self-discovery.

The film's core creative team also includes art director Ayano Okamoto ( Give, Mieruko-chan ) and character designer Takahiro Yoshimatsu (Slayers, Triguns, Ninja Scrolls, Overlord )  . Madhouse is known for producing Satoshi Kon's critically acclaimed films, including Paprika, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time e Perfect Blue , as well as  Summer Wars by Mamoru Hosoda, Metropolis di Rintaro and many others.
