VIEW Conference presents the animated short film "Namoo &"

VIEW ConferenceIn partnership with Baobab Studios e OGR, next week will feature a live virtual screening, presentation and conversation with the directors behind the acclaimed Annie Award-nominated animated short, People. Speakers will include writer / director Eric Oh, producer and CEO / co-founder of Baobab Studios Maureen Fan, producer and CCO / co-founder of Baobab Studios Eric Darnell, artistic director Euson Lee and lead artist Quill Nick Ladd. The session will be moderated by the Academy Award-winning director Peter Ramsey.

“Erick Oh is a visionary artist and director,” says conference director Dr. Maria Elena Gutierrez, “and People it is his most moving work. As soon as I learned that Erick was going to work with the incredible creative team at Baobab Studios, I knew the results were going to be spectacular ”.

Having recently won the Gold List Award for Best Animated Short Film, People is now available to stream on HBO Max.

Famous concept artist to Iain McCaig (Star Wars franchise, Guardiani della galassia, The jungle book) back to The Gnomon Workshop to continue CREATIVITY, his two series of workshops, recounting his complete process from creating an original story to fully enriched characters and worlds. These sessions follow as McCaig creates elements of a last man on Earth / Frankenstein love story, Pig.

Following on from CREATIVITY: Story & Character Development, McCaig continues the discussion on how to be creative and develop your creativity with a look at Creature and World Design. This second volume details the design of not one but two creatures: the creation of Pyg's robot wife and a mysterious alien from outer space. Yaya and Lennie - Freedom that walks

Italian publisher-distributor Rai Com unveils the latest titles that will be presented during the Berlinale EFM 2022 from 10 to 17 February (efm-berlinale.de). The line-up includes the latest intriguing and artistic animated short story from the award-winning director Alessandro Rak (the cat Cinderella ). Presented in Competition at the 74th Locarno Film Festival, Yaya and Lennie - Freedom that walks is an animated tale set in a post-apocalyptic world with an extraordinarily unique visual style, produced by Nexo Digital. Screening on February 15th at 11am at Virtual Cinema 1.

Synopsis: The world has come to an end. Nature has taken over the planet, covering it with a blanket of jungle. A new society, the "Institution", is attempting to thrive from the ruins of the old world and is striving to restore a sense of order. But not everyone accepts to succumb to a process of civilization. The protagonists of the story, Yaya and Lennie, the free spirits of the jungle, are trying to find their place in the world. Yaya is a smart 15-year-old girl of mixed ethnicity with a rough temper who takes care of Lennie, a tall, big man in his XNUMXs with a mental disability.

WIA Black History Month

As part of the org's ongoing commitment to support and uplift marginalized communities in animation, Women in animation is honoring the industry's pioneering black women Black History Month. The series launched on Tuesday with the spotlight on Brenda Banks, one of the first black women to work as a professional animator, with credits ranging from Hanna-Barbera heathcliff to that of Ralph Bakshi Maghi, and in 2018 received the WIA Diversity Award.
