Hajime Segawa's Shikabane-Gatana manga will end in November

The December issue of Kadokawa's Shōnen Ace magazine revealed Tuesday that Hajime Segawa's Shikabane-Gatana (Corpse Sword) manga will end in the magazine's next issue on November 26.

The battle action manga centers on Jūki Kiki (unofficial Romanization name), a middle school boy who lives a happy life despite somewhat strange family circumstances. But when a major disaster strikes, strange zombie-like creatures kidnap his younger sister. To find out where his younger sister is, Jūki heads to monster-infested Tokyo. There, he has a chance encounter with a high school girl who wields a mysterious sword.

Segawa launched the manga on Shōnen Ace in June 2020. Kadokawa released the second volume of the manga on June 25th.

Segawa published the supernatural action manga The Enchained Spiritual Beast Ga-Rei from 2006 to 2010 and Kadokawa published the series in 12 compiled volumes. The now defunct JManga app previously distributed the series in English and now all volumes are available in English on Kadokawa's BookWalker app.

The manga inspired Ga-Rei: Zero's prequel television anime in 2008, and Funimation released the series on home video in North America. Ga-Rei is inspiring a live-action television series from Thor producer and Thor co-writer: Ragnarok Craig Kyle. A prequel novel titled Ga-Rei: Kizashi by Katsuhiko Takayama released in February 2020.

Segawa finished his Tokyo ESP manga in July 2016. He launched the "psychic afterschool" series in Kadokawa's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine in 2010, shortly after finishing Ga-Rei. Kadokawa has published 16 volumes of books compiled for Tokyo ESP. Vertical published the manga in two-in-one omnibus volumes in North America. The manga also inspired a television anime in 2014.
