Hey manThe cartoon series of He-man and the Master of the universe (which in Italy is translated He-man and the rulers of the universe) began in 1983, when Mattel, a well-known manufacturer of toys (see Barbie), given the success obtained with the sales of the action figures puppets The masters of universe (launched on the market after the sunset of the legendary Big Jim) and also thanks to the feedback received from the effective commercial, decides to make 65 episodes of a cartoon series concerning the story of He-Man, Skeletor and the planet Eternia called precisely He-man and the master of the universe. Almost 20 years later the remake of the previous series, which has recently been broadcast on Italia 1 on Saturdays at 9,55 am e sometimes even on Sundays always with the same title. The 80s series was a huge success among the very young and toys were not the only gadgets to come out on the market, as soon merchandising produced comics, stickers, videotapes, video games, toy soldiers and many other items. The fantasy cartoon draws inspiration from Conan the barbarian, Superman and Star Wars, films that met with enormous success in those years. The He-man series will have numerous serials: The Princess of Power from 1985, He-man from 1989 and the very recent He-man and the Master of the Universe from 2002.

Hey man

The plot of He-man and the Master of the universe tells of the planet Eternia, a magical world at the center of the universe divided into two hemispheres by a great wall: the kingdom of light and the kingdom of darkness. The first is ruled by King Randor who fights against the evil Skeletor, a monster with the face of a skull under whose likeness the emperor of darkness Keldor is hiding, thus becoming after a serious wound to the face. Skeletor wants to conquer the castle of Grayskull where the secrets of Eternia are kept, able to give immense power to anyone who gets it. Part of this magic powers the Sword of Power, a magical sword capable of transforming Adam, the son of King Randor and Queen Marlena, into the invincible He-man, the strongest man in the universe. The castle is guarded by the wise sorceress Zoar, who possesses divinatory powers and helps He-man and King Randor in the fight against Skeletor, but a spell allows him to leave the castle only after transforming into a hawk. In addition to He-man the castle is defended by his precious allies: Ram man (heroic warrior man missile, guardian of the castle of Eternia), the Tiger Battle-Car, Cringer, Orko (a floating scoter advisor to He man), Manatarms and Teelas fighting against Skeletor and his hideous hosts of monsters assisted by the evil Evil-Lyn and made up of bizarre characters such as Two Bad the two-headed warrior ally of Skeletor and the terrible ninja Ninjor and Jitsu.

Hey man

In the first episode we find Randor, Man-At-Arms, Mekaneck, Ram Man, and Stratos discussing the invasion of Eternia by Keldor's troops. The old sages then appoint Randor king of Eternia. At a certain point the meeting is interrupted by a violent explosion and in front of their eyes Keldor appears with his monstrous troops: the evil Evil-Lyn, Beast Man, Mer-Man, Kronis, Tri-Klops, Clawful and Whiplash. A tough battle ensues and Randor confronts the evil Keldor, who cunningly throws a very powerful acid at him, but Randor is able to protect himself with the shield and the corrosive acid by bouncing, splashes on Keldor's face, disfiguring his face, then he is arrested along with his faithful ally Beast Man. Randor turns to the sorceress, Zoar who reveals the future threat to the planet Eternia and foretells the coming of a hero capable of defeating the evil hordes of the dark hemisphere. The story then moves a few years later and we immediately get to know the young sixteen year old Adam, Randor's son who trains with his friend
Teela in front of credit Cringer, Man-At-Arms and Mekaneck.

Hey man

Adam immediately proves to be a bit clumsy and not very accustomed to the use of weapons as it is for a long time that on Eternia, we do not hear of war and violence, he does not know that beyond the great wall, in the hemisphere of the darkness the kingdom of darkness has gathered to prepare for a new invasion. Keldor now calls himself Skeletor and along with his allies Beast Man, Evil-Lyn, Tri-Klops and Kronis, prepare a plan to break through the great wall, thanks to a very powerful machine, in order to access the kingdom of Greyskull.

The first hit on the great wall causes an earthquake that disrupts Adam's birthday party and the royal palace. Randor is advised by the sorceress Zoar to take Prince Adam to safety in Greyskull Castle. In the presence of Zoar, Adam learns the story of Keldor and the dark hemisphere separated by the great wall. Meanwhile, Skeletor has passed the barrier of the great wall and is heading towards the castle. Despite the first reluctance Zoar will give Adam the sword that will allow him to transform from a harmless boy into He-man the strongest man in the universe.

Hey man

The substantial differences between the two series are first of all in the restyling of the character, always blond, but without the "pagetto" hairstyle. The long johns and boots, typical of DC and Marvel superheroes, have been replaced by a fur kilt, definitely more fantasy. Furthermore, the difference between Adam and He-man is much more marked, as Adam is a clumsy and reflects the insecurity and foolishness of many young people, while He-man is always the invincible hero without blemish and without fear. The fantasy settings integrate perfectly with the futuristic and technological machines rendered very well thanks to the contribution of 3D computer graphics. Also noteworthy is the beautiful initials counted by Giorgio Vanni.
