Hurricane Polimar
(Hurricane Polymer in the original translation) conceived and produced by Tatsuo Yoshi in 1974, under the direction of Hisayuki Toriumi, and was broadcast for the first time in Italy in 1982 on Rete 4, for a number of 26 episodes lasting about 25 minutes each.
Hurricane Polimar is a character born behind the success of Kyashan, which the year before in Japan, met with considerable success with the public. Unlike the android man, Hurricane Polimar is a superhero (modeled after the American super heroes DC and Marvel), who is distinguished by the cry "Hurricane!" (Hurricane), he can transform his body at will into different deadly weapons such as a jet, a submarine or a tank, thanks to his super technological helmet, which covers him in a formidable and indestructible material. Hurricane Polimar is actually Takeshi Onikawara, son of Interpol director Toragoro Onikawara, known as Onitora.
Due to various conflicts with the severity of his father, who would like to make him the best detective in the world, Takeshi leaves home, with a great desire to investigate independently. One day Takashi, together with his inseparable dog Saint Bernard Baron, discovers the band of lizard-men entering the villa of the great Japanese scientist Oregasteru. Despite his intervention, Takeshi is unable to avoid the killing of the scientist who, before dying, gives the young detective the Polymet helmet, which allows him to dress his body in an invulnerable red suit, thanks to which he can transform into different weapons. super technological. Takeshi, understands the importance of this secret and to hide his true identity, he is hired as an assistant by the private investigator
Jo Kuruma, pretending to be naive and slacker. Jo Kuruma is as megalomaniac as he is clumsy and is always accompanied by the beautiful secretary Taru, who in times of difficulty does not disdain to lend a hand to Takeru-Polimar. When it seems that the enemy takes the wind, Takeshi, for some reason, disappears from circulation and in his place appears the invincible Hurricane Polimar, who, thanks to his hurricane strength, risks defeating the enemies despite Jo Kuruma always wants to take all the you deserve. How Tekkaman, even Hurricane Polimar has a maximum time limit for the transformation, in fact it cannot last more than 45 minutes, otherwise it risks death. Unlike the more serious American superheroes, (superheroes with super problems), the stories of Hurricane Polimar are not only paradoxical but also very humorous and light-hearted, thanks to the verve of its light-hearted and clumsy protagonists. Among the various criminals that Hurricane Polimar will have to face we find the fearsome band of Spiders who want to take possession of all the uranium in the world to build a very powerful atomic bomb. Then there are the Mole thieves, specialized in the theft of rare and precious jewels inside ancient temples. In one episode, the Dobberman gang plans an attack on the director of Interpol Onitora, Takeru's father, but once again the intervention of Hurricane Polimar will be decisive and resolving. Particular problems encounter instead in facing the gang of Cats, which thanks to the latest discoveries of science, stolen from the greatest scientists in the world, plot to dominate the entire planet with the construction of deadly weapons, here Hurricane Polimar will have to resort to all its most powerful transformations to counter the criminal organization. Very similar to this is the Torimeka bird-man gang, which kidnaps the best scientists to build a super-intelligent race. In another episode we find Polimar struggling with the gang of the Electric Octopus, looking for the map of the ancient Hindu treasure, kept inside the twelve Shibugaki vases. Sometimes Inspector Jo Kuruma's naivety is equal to his presumption, as in the case in which he is used as a pawn by the Butterfly men who want to avenge their traitor. Later we find Polimar grappling with the gang of Mice, who carry out a considerable number of robberies in the city and as if that were not enough, an old criminal is about to join them after having served twenty-five years in prison to become the leader.
The most spectacular battles of Polimar are those against Picadale the lightning man and against the pirates Pirakans, as Hurricane Polimar will transform into sophisticated war machines. The narrative scheme of all the episodes is the classic one: thieves in action, Interpol intervention, wiretapping and the arrival of Jo Kuruma who gets into trouble and finally Polimar's solver arrival who defeats the enemies. However, the opponents are very phantom, which remind us not a little of the enemies ofSpiderman (see Goblin, Lizard, Vulture, Octopus etc ..). Among these we also remember the Freezer Demon, the Lizard Demons, the gang of Doctor Yes, the Transformer Fox, the Octopus Man and the flying fish. Finally, in the last episode Takeshi and Onitora, finally together, are kidnapped by criminals; but to save his father our hero would have to reveal his secret identity and break his promise to Dr. Oregaster. What to do? Unmissable final chapter in the adventures of Hurricane Polimar, the unbeatable champion of justice!
