Jerry Lewis Show - the animated series of 1970

Jerry Lewis Show (original title: Will the Real Jerry Lewis Please Sit Down) is a cartoon series produced by Filmation from 1970 to 1972, starring comedian Jerry Lewis, based on characters from the 1965 film The 7 Magnificent Jerry's (The Family Jewels) and with a style similar to Funnie TV's Archie e Groovy Goolies . Like most of the 70s Saturday morning American cartoon series, Jerry Lewis Show (original title: Will the Real Jerry Lewis Please Sit Down) contained a trace of adult laughter. In Italy the series was broadcast in 1980 on Rai Due.

Jerry Lewis Show - The cartoon series

Although actor Jerry Lewis contributed to some of the scripts, he didn't voice any of the characters. The central character of Jerry Lewis was voiced by David Lander, who would later be best known for his role as Squiggy in Laverne & Shirley.

History

Filmation filled the episodes with farcical jokes, and the chewy, lanky animated version of Lewis was well crafted and similar to his portrayal in DC Comics' longtime comic title, The Adventures of Jerry Lewis (originally released as The Adventures of Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis before the breakup of their show business partnership). Recurring characters included Chinese detective Hong Kong Flewis and his plump son, One Ton Son; his father, Professor Lewis; and his sister Geraldine (and her house frog, Spot). Presumably, the series takes place somewhere in the New York / New Jersey / Connecticut three-state area, as in one episode, Jerry sees a street sign that reads “Atlantic City. 216 miles ".

In the series, Jerry worked for the Odd Job Employment Agency under the supervision of the hateful Mr. Blunderpuss. A typical episode saw Jerry being assigned a job and completely tearing him apart in his own harmless and naive way.
