Keira Knightley joins "Charlotte" as a voice actress and executive producer

Twice Academy Award nominated actress Keira Knightley (pride and Prejudice) joins the formidable cast of voices from the animated drama Charlotte, making its world premiere at the Toronto Int'l Film Festival in September. The film is based on the true story of German Jewish artist Charlotte Salomon, who comes of age on the eve of World War II, and is inspired by her series of autobiographical paintings “Life? or theater? "

Fiercely imaginative and deeply gifted, Charlotte dreams of becoming an artist. Her first love praises her talent and encourages her determination. But the world around her is changing rapidly and dangerously, limiting her options and derailing her dream. When anti-Semitic policies inspire violent crowds, he leaves Berlin for the safety of southern France. There he starts painting again and finds a new love. But his work is interrupted, this time by a family tragedy that reveals an even darker secret. Convinced that only the extraordinary will save her, she embarks on the monumental adventure of painting the story of her life.
