The story of kinnikuman

kinnikuman is a Japanese manga series created by the duo Yoshinori Nakai and Takashi Shimada, known as Yudetamago. Follows Suguru Kinniku, a superhero who must win a wrestling tournament to keep the title of prince of the planet Kinniku. Nakai and Takashi planned the series when they were in high school originally as a parody of Ultraman .

The manga was originally published in the magazine Weekly Shonen Jump of Shueisha between 1979 and 1987, and was adapted by Toei Animation into a 137-episode anime series. The publication continued in 2011, from which the spin-offs manga and anime series, video games, anime films and various products related to kinnikuman .

There is also a sequel, the manga Kinnikuman: The 2nd Generation  which was serialized on weeklyplayboy between 1998 and 2004. It was released in North America by Viz Media under the title of Ultimate Muscle . It has also been adapted into three different television series, all broadcast on Tokyo TV in Japan and broadcast in North America by 4Kids Entertainment.

The manga series was popular in Japan, selling over 77 million copies by 2021. As popular as the anime series and its merchandise, such as Kinkeshi, an action figure line released as MUSCLE in North America.

The story involves Kinnikuman (real name Suguru Kinniku), a clumsy, goofy and comical superhero who discovers he is the missing prince of the planet Kinniku (known for producing the greatest superheroes in the universe). Even if he is a clumsy fool, he must prove himself worthy of the throne. To do so, he participates in wrestling competitions and fights the evil Chojin, culminating in a tournament between Kinnikuman and five pretenders to the throne: Kinnikuman Big Body, Soldier, Zebra, Mariposa and Super Phoenix. Many of Kinnikuman's allies start out as villains (Ramenman, Buffalo Man, Ashuraman, and Warsman) or arrogant heroes (Terryman, Robin Mask, and Rikishiman). The heroes and villains are collectively known as Chojin, which literally means "supermen".

Ultimate Muscle

Mantaro Muscle (also known as Kid Muscle, Mantaro Kinniku in the Japanese version) is the spoiled son of superhero wrestler King Muscle ( kinnikumanin the Japanese version). After 28 years of peace, the old enemies of the Seigi Choujins (Muscle League) regroup and form the Demon Manufacturing Plant (dMp, known in the English version as Destruction, Mayhem and Pain). The Muscle League has lost its edge and are overwhelmed by young, well-trained fighters. Recognizing their weakness, the Seigi Chojin reopen the Hercules Factory (a school for superheroes) and begin training a new generation of heroes to face dMp. Reluctant at first, Mantaro (Kid Muscle) is one of the young heroes and defeats his father to prove his willingness to graduate. He and the other new Seigi Choujin defeat several members of the dMp and meet Kevin Mask, who leaves the dMp when he discovers their lack of honor. They also fight against Sunshine and her pupils, who destroy the dMp after developing a renewed respect for the fighting spirit of the Seigi Choujin. The manga continues with the Next Generation Replacement Tournament, Mantaro's challenge to master his inherited potential (Kajiba no Kuso Chikara , “Inner force that burns” or “fire”), the return of the Chojin Olympics, a fight with the Demon Seed (an evil group), a backstory for Robin Mask and a tag-team tournament set in the past. Although the manga begins as a fairly light and entertaining (albeit violent) story, the later arcs (most notably the No Respect and Demon Seed storylines) have a darker tone and often deal with psychological trauma.

In the Manga Sōsenkyo 2021 poll by TV Asahi, 150 people voted their top 000 manga series and kinnikuman it was ranked 63rd
