Axis Studios makes the animations for the game "Sackboy: A Big Adventure"
Award-winning animation and visual effects company Axis Studios has revealed the workflow for animations for the new video game Sackboy: The Big Adventure (Sackboy: A Great Adventure). from Sony Interactive Entertainment and Sumo Digital for Playstation 5,
Working closely with Sony publishers and developers, Sumo, Glasgow, UK-based Axis Studios produced 23 minutes of seamless gameplay footage in 4K. Led by director Olly Reid, Axis worked with the team to define the cinematic style and develop the narrative language from Sony's original script.
One of 19 launch titles for Sony's long-awaited next-generation Playstation 5 console is Sackboy: The Big Adventure (Sackboy: A Great Adventure) Sackboy's first standalone video game for a new generation of gamers. The new adventure introduces a whole host of new characters including Vex, voiced by Richard E. Grant, and Scarlet, voiced by Dawn French.
On the 3D platform of Little Big Planet (Little big planet) , the footage played an important role in dragging players through the whole experience. Axis went to great lengths to take every aspect to another level, bringing their experience in creating real-time movies to make the player understand the moments of the story.
“The script was fantastic, so we used every cinematic trick we could employ to heighten the drama, action or humor of each moment and really engage the audience,” Reid said.
Working directly with the game development team early in the cinematic process, Axis was involved in every step of the production, from script to editing, final construction and performance testing. Synchronizing Axis' real-time pipeline with Sumo's build enabled an efficient shared workflow.

Sackboy: The Big Adventure (Sackboy: A Great Adventure) is now available on PS4 and PS5.
