Magic Light makes Christmas cartoons with "Gruffalo" and "Zog"

Magic Light Pictures, the multi-Academy Award nominated production company, has been offering delightful animated series and Christmas animated films for children and the whole family for over 10 years. This year, the company brought back the characters of Zog and the flying doctors, much loved by authors and illustrators Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, for Christmas cartoons. 

The cartoons will include the characters of Zog, Princess Pearl and Sir Gadabout, the unlikely team of flying doctors, enjoying the adventures of the Christmas holidays. Alongside these, there is a moment of tenderness between Il Gruffalo and his daughter, as they return to the snow-covered clearing at the edge of the deep dark wood and adorn their magical Christmas tree. The animated shorts will feature day and night scenes including a decorated tree, twinkling lights and seasonal charm, to capture the warmth, atmosphere and glow of the Christmas season.

The spots will air on BBC One in the UK on Sunday 29 November.

These short cartoons, called "idents" are produced by Barney Goodland, along with executive producer Martin Pope for Magic Light Pictures, with major creative partners in the animated specials, including animators from previous films and the enchanting soundtrack by René Aubry. . The animation services were provided by the London studio Red Knuckles.

Zog and the flying doctors, starring Sir Lenny Henry and Rob Brydon, will feature prominently on the BBC and BBC iPlayer lineup alongside other party favorites and new exclusive offers.
