Nadia and the mystery of the blue stoneNadia and the mystery of the blue stone (original title Fushigi no Umi no Nadia), is a Japanese animated series (anime), produced by the studio Gainax (the same as Neon Genesis Evangelion) for a total of 39 episodes, which was broadcast for the first time in Japan between 1990 and 1991, enjoying widespread public success. In Italy, however, it was broadcast in 1992 (with the title, The mystery of the blue stone), whose censorships and adaptations distorted the Japanese version considerably. Later, however, Yamato video worked on an arrangement of the cartoon much more faithful to the original and presented it to the public with the title, Nadia and the mystery of the blue stone. It should also be noted that the authors Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi of 'Fushigi no Umi no Nadia', while remaining on the thread of originality, were inspired by the novels of Giulio Verne (in particular 20000 leagues under the sea and the mysterious island) .
The story, set in Paris in 1989, sees as the protagonist the beautiful and 'grumpy' Nadia, a fourteen-year-old orphan who works as an acrobat in a circus and is convinced that she has African origins (as her dark skin would show). Instead, her only link with a past shrouded in mystery is a blue stone (whose characteristic is to light up every time the girl is in danger). Nadia and the mystery of the blue stoneNext to the young woman we find Jean, her age and companion in adventure, a shy, sensitive boy, a confident lover of science and creator of inventions (which will not always work ...). Other intriguing characters (good or evil), no less important, then gather around the two.
It all begins at the world fair in Paris, where Jean sees Nadia for the first time and is immediately fascinated by her. The girl is in danger, because she is being chased by three thieves (Rebecca, Sanson and Hanson), who would like to take possession of the mysterious blue stone. Jean then offers his help to the girl and together they follow the flight in an airplane (construction of Jean). However, the aircraft breaks down and crashes into the Atlantic Sea, although, fortunately, the two are saved by a warship. Meanwhile Jaen repairs the plane and takes off with Nadia. Unfortunately, another breakdown makes the two friends shipwreck again in the open sea, being saved by the Nautilus (a high-tech submarine) led by Captain Nemo (owner of a blue stone identical to that of Nadia, who turns out to be the girl's real father. ). Jean and Nadia resume their journey after the submarine crew has repaired the plane; but they fall again, finding themselves on an island: the secret base of the NeoAtlantide organization. Nadia and the mystery of the blue stoneAt the head of this organization is Argo, an evil and despicable being, who would like to take over the blue stone to assert himself and dominate the whole world. On the island Jean and Nadia meet Marie, a wise and enterprising child, who is very fond of them and will follow them everywhere. Nadia and the mystery of the blue stoneThey also meet again the three thieves, who after having known the vicissitudes of the two boys, join their good cause, which is basically the same as Captain Nemo: that is, he will oppose the evil plans of Argos with all possible forces! In fact, Captain Nemo will save Nadia, Jean and their friends from the clutches of his antagonist. From here on, therefore, the episodes of Nadia and the mystery of the blue stone will translate into a crescendo of adventures and pathos, which will lead the protagonists to discover, each of their own destiny and how to face it. Nadia, in particular, when she discovers she is the princess of Atlantis and, as such, possesses the only means (the blue stone) capable of bringing the submerged city back into being, she will be called to a choice of life and d ' total love: the only way to save his great love. Not to be missed!
