Netflix acquires the film "The Summit of the Gods" which will be released on November 30th

Another interesting import of animated films joins the Netflix pantheon, as the streaming giant announces the acquisition of the official selection of the Cannes Film Festival 2021 The summit of the gods (The Sommet des Dieux), directed by Patrick Imbert (The big evil fox and other tales) and based on the best-selling manga by Jiro Taniguchi and Baku Yumemakura.

The summit of the gods it will be released in select US theaters on November 24, in the UK on November 26 and streamed worldwide (excluding Fance, Benelux, China, Japan and South Korea) on November 30. The film premiered in Cannes in July.

Synopsis: Were George Mallory and his partner Andrew Irvine the first men to climb Everest on June 8, 1924? Only the little Kodak camera they brought with them could reveal the truth. In Kathmandu, 70 years later, a young Japanese reporter named Fukamachi recognizes the camera in the hands of the mysterious Habu Jôji, an outcast climber believed to have been missing for years. Fukamachi enters a world of obsessive climbers thirsting for impossible conquests on a journey that leads him, step by step, to the summit of the gods.

Imbert wrote the screenplay with Magali Pouzol and Jean-Charles Ostorero. The producers are Ostorero, Didier Brunner (The triplets of Belleville, Ernest and Celestine), Damien Brunner and Stéphan Roelants. The executive producer is Thibaut Ruby.

The summit of the gods is produced by the French Folivari (Pachamama, SamSam, The Big Bad Fox and other tales) and the Belgian Mélusine Productions (Wolfwalkers, The Journey of the Prince, The Swallows of Kabul).
