Nickelodeon Launches Intergalactic Short Film Program 2.0; The 1st Greenlight 'Rock, Paper, Scissors' debuts in Annecy
Intergalactic Shorts Program 2.0 by Nickelodeon is opening its research to new and diverse creators from around the world, focusing on new voices and fueling their vision of original comedy-based content with an eye to representation. Today's announcement was made by Ramsey Naito, President, Nickelodeon Animation and Paramount Animation.
Originally launched in 2019, Rock, Paper, Scissors marks the first short film aimed at receiving the green light for the series of the inaugural program. In short, the iconic trio of Rock, Paper and Scissors compete lovingly with each other in this comedy of friends about the joy and disorder of friendship. Nickelodeon will debut with Rock, Paper, Scissors during a special Nickelodeon Animation presentation at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on Thursday 16 June.
Six more projects from 2019 are currently in production at Nickelodeon. Further information will be available soon.
“We knew we were on something special with creators Kyle Stegina and Josh Lehrman and their hilarious characters in Rock, Paper, Scissors, that we are so proud to bring to the series " said Naito. "Finding and growing talent through the launch process to hit is what fuels our intergalactic shorts program and we can't wait to start finding the next great animation creator through the newly launched second phase of our program."
The short film and the series Rock, Paper, Scissors originals are created, written and executive produced by Kyle Stegina ( Robot Chicken ) and Josh Lehrman ( Robot Chicken ), with Conrad Vernon ( Sasage Party ) and Bob Boyle ( The Fairly OddParents ) as executive producers of the series.
