No Mo 'MODOK', 'Dragon Ball' brings Toei Moneymaker, Oscar dates and more

Jordan Blum and Patton Oswalt's stop-mo comedy for adults MODOK has been deleted from Hulu after just one season, Deadline reports. The irreverent Super Villain series was part of a series of Marvel animation projects approved as Hulu Originals, along with Howard the Duck e Tigra & Dazzler , which have been demolished in early 2020 when the Marvel Television division led by Jeph Loeb closed, e Hit Monkey , which premiered in November 2021.

Animated by Stoopid wizards Buddy Stoodios, Marvel's MODOK is launched on Hulu nearly a year ago with 10 episodes. The serialized story sees the megalomaniac supervillain (voiced by Oswalt), after years of trying to take over the world, ousted as the head of his evil organization. Not only that, but his marriage and his family life are crumbling around him, leading Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing to face his greatest challenge: a midlife crisis.

Toei Animation announced his earnings for the fiscal year ending March 2022, resulting in a net turnover of 57 billion yen (about $ 440 million), + 10% over the previous fiscal year (51,5 billion yen); this includes an operating profit of 18,1 billion yen (+ 16,8%). The company noted that its overseas businesses, video distribution and copyright activities contributed significantly. Concluding in step with ITFS and FMX in Stuttgart, Animation Production Days (APD) announced the best projects on offer this year. The event is a curated corporate platform for the German and international animation industry. In exclusive pre-programmed one-to-one meetings, producers present their new ideas for animated films, TV series, games or transmedia projects to broadcasters, streamers, investors, distributors and potential co-production partners.

A jury of German broadcasters (KIKA, SWR, Super RTL, Walt Disney Germany, WDR, ZDF) awarded two German projects with a direct selection to the Cartoon forum (September 19-22 in Toulouse, France):

• DinoFino produced by German Film Partners. Based on a series of children's books, DinoFino tells the adventures of two dinosaur friends, Dino and Ricky, who couldn't be more different.
• Tiger & Bear produced by Wolkenlenker. A concept for a TV series for young children: Little Tiger and his best friend the Bear live in a house by the lake where they experience small moments of everyday life.

CARTOON also announced the winner of the Cartoon Springboard Award for a series of young authors, with a direct selection to Cartoon Springboard (25-27 October in Madrid, Spain). The project was selected by the partners and juries of the National Animation Film Festival 2022 of the AFCA:

• Pour une heure et demie (“For an hour and a half) by Marie Derambure and Paco Moccand. A compelling story that plays with the codes of love during a rather unusual train journey. A romantic comedy in a very colorful, joyful universe and a delightful little suspense.

The DC has released a game walkthrough for Gotham Knights , the new open world action RPG set in the most interactive Gotham City ever. The preview, presented by Warner Bros. Games Montreal director Geoff Ellenor, sees Nightwing and Red Hood agree to work together to protect their metropolis.
