History

Set in a world where almost all the characters are animals, the Peppa Pig series tells the daily life of the protagonist piglet, her family and friends. Each episode lasts about five minutes. Each of her friends is a different species of animal. Peppa's friends are the same age as her and brother George's friends are the same age as her. Episodes tend to feature everyday activities such as attending a playgroup, going swimming, visiting grandparents, cousins and friends, going to the playground, or riding a bike.

The characters wear clothes, live in houses, and drive cars, but still display some characteristics of the animals they're based on. Peppa and her family snort like pigs during conversations when they speak English, and the other animals make each other's cries when they speak, with some exhibiting other characteristics, such as the Rabbit family's screeching sounds and a fondness for carrots. The Coniglio family is the exception to the rule of human habitation, as they live in a burrow in the hills, even if it has windows and is furnished like other houses. Characters blush when embarrassed, and their mouths express other emotions such as sadness, happiness, irritation, bewilderment, and confusion. Although the main characters, mostly mammals, are anthropomorphic, other animal characters are not, such as Tiddles the turtle, Polly the parrot and the ducks.

Characters

Peppa Pig – Peppa is a curious and lively piggy, daughter of Mummy and Daddy Pig, sister of George, granddaughter of Grandma and Grandpa Pig, nephew of Uncle and Aunt Pig, cousin sister of Alexander and Chloe and main protagonist of the series. George Pig – George is Peppa's younger brother, the son of Mummy and Daddy Pig, grandson of Grandma and Grandpa Pig. He is often seen holding his own dinosaur toy, called "Mr. Dinosaur", but due to George's limited vocabulary, he pronounces it as "dino-saurus", which was given to him by Grandpa and Grandma Pig when he was born. He cries in several episodes with his typical showers of tears. Often when he cries it has to do with Peppa teasing him or him being afraid of something. He is the only one in Peppa's playgroup whose name doesn't start with the same letter as his species. Also, in the series, he is simply referred to as "George". He is now a member of Peppa's class despite him being only two years old (presumably 3 as of season 7). He wears a blue shirt and black shoes. He shares many similarities with his father such as drinking warm milk and making cakes or chocolate chip cookies. Daddy Pig is sometimes clumsy and clumsy and also has trouble reading maps. Despite this, he remains cheerful and never lets himself down by anything, even when Mr. Potato publicly taunts him on his television show, for his overweight. Daddy Pig has also been shown to have a fear of heights and spiders. He works as a structural engineer and concrete technician. He wears a turquoise shirt.

Grandpa Pig – Grandpa Pig is Mummy and Aunt Pig's father, Grandma Pig's husband, Daddy and Uncle Pig's father-in-law and Peppa, George, Alexander and Chloe Grandpa. Although the two argue in some episodes, he is best friends with Grandpa Dog. He has a trackless train called Gertrude which he calls "Gertrude is not a toy, she is a miniature locomotive!". He loves sailing and gardening. Certain features of the garden, however, such as chickens eating his lettuce, blackberry bushes watching him, garden gnomes and plastic wells tend to piss him off. Some episodes

A cheerful little family who lives in a house on a hill greets their father who has to go to work from the doorway. The two children and in particular Peppa, the eldest, would like dad to be able to go on vacation today because it is her birthday, but it is not possible, but he promises to arrive soon.
While waiting for his return, mom invites both little George and Peppa to assist her while she prepares a delicious chocolate cake for dad. The two children enjoy mixing the dough, and once the cake is baked, they get permission from their mother to clean the spoon and bowl.
Peppa can't wait for her father to get back from work, but in the meantime she calls him in the office to wish him her best wishes and colleagues who listen to the conversation join the little girl to say "Happy birthday".
At home, meanwhile, preparations are in full swing to celebrate. Mum wants to prepare a surprise for dad, she decorates the trees in the garden with colored balloons and then also prepares two buckets of water. What will they be for?
Dad finally returns from work and his loved ones proudly present him with the beautiful chocolate cake with many, many candles to blow out with a single blow, then his mother gives him her present. In the colorful package there is a nice pair of red boots very suitable for the mud and while dad puts them on everyone hastens to put on theirs and run to the garden.
There is a small puddle and Dad enters it, but it's really minimal in size, for him, much more water would be needed and Mum takes care of this by pouring the two buckets she had prepared earlier on the ground. Now there is a big puddle and the whole family can happily jump in the mud.

Until almost the end of this story, the story told could have happened in a very normal family, but the fact that at the end everyone jumps happily into the mud can leave you amazed, but you shouldn't be surprised because the story told refers to an episode of the cartoon "Peppa Pig” which features a piglet and her family as the protagonist.

The Pig family is made up of anthropomorphic pigs who live in a house, work, play like humans do, but every now and then they make grunts and above all they don't forget how pleasant it is to jump in the mud.
Peppa is the eldest daughter of an approximate age of 5/6 years, then there is her little brother George who only articulates a few words and who spares no tantrums when something happens that he doesn't like. The parents, Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig, perform the same tasks as human parents, they work, cook and when necessary scold their children; there are also grandparents and even little friends.
Peppa's strange world, however, is not only inhabited by pigs, there are almost all the animals, in fact among dad's colleagues there are a rabbit and a dog and the little girl boasts among her playmates elephants, foxes, cats , zebras, in short, a real zoo.

The cartoon, drawn with linear strokes and with rather bare backgrounds, is intended for younger children, under 6 years of age, both for the brevity of the episodes (about four minutes), and for the topics covered which usually concern small events in the everyday life, such as an afternoon spent on the playground, an invitation to lunch with the grandparents, a small computer crash from mom.
Even with such simplicity, some easy notions are introduced that have an educational purpose.

In the episode "A vegetable lunch” for example, Peppa with her little brother, mum and dad
she is invited to lunch by her grandparents. While waiting to sit down at the table, the two children are sent to the garden where their grandfather is picking some of the vegetables he grows to prepare a nice mixed salad. He shows Peppa and George the tomatoes, but the boy doesn't like them and the same goes for lettuce and cucumbers, in truth little Pig claims he only likes chocolate cake. Grandfather is sorry that he doesn't eat the vegetables, but he hopes that once the salad is ready, George will decide to taste it. Unfortunately, however, when lunch is served, the child devours his slice of pizza, but all the vegetables remain on his plate.
Despite being asked by the adults to at least try and taste it, he refuses.
Then Grandpa has an idea.
He chops the vegetables on George's plate a little and arranges them so that they take the shape of a dinosaur, he knows that the child is passionate about these lizards and his favorite puppet is precisely a dinosaur. The little one's face lights up and he starts eating the vegetables with gusto, disguised as a prehistoric reptile. He really stuffs himself with it and repeatedly says he's full, but when he gets the chocolate cake on the table, George devours it in an instant to the laughter of his family.

"Peppa Pig" also tries to provide the little ones with very simple notions about the world around them.

In "Works in progress" the Pig family decides to drive to the playground, but traffic is stopped and a long queue forms because there is road construction going on.
Amidst the clamors of George who absolutely wants to get to his friends, the foreman approaches and explains that there has been a water leak in the pipes that pass underground. The workers will have to drill a hole in the asphalt to replace the damaged pipe and an excavator immediately gets to work while a crane also arrives carrying the new pipe. Little Pig, enthralled by those powerful work vehicles, follows all the phases carefully and when he reaches the park he repeats the same gestures seen at the road construction site with his toys.

Sometimes the cartoon, on the other hand, maintains a playful aspect to entertain its very young audience. In one episode, for example, we witness Peppa's and George's attempts to get people talking the parrot Polly which belongs to friends. It is known that these birds tend to repeat everything they hear and so the little girl, after having made him say some trivial phrases, enjoys grunting laughing at how well Polly imitates her.
When the owner of the animal arrives, she proudly would like everyone to hear how her Polly is good at talking, a pity that she continues to repeat the grunts heard by Peppa and the episode ends amidst general laughter.
