"The adventures of Piggley Winks" is an animated series in 3d graphics consisting of 53 episodes, made by the English studios of Entara and aimed at preschool children, which was broadcast on Italia 1 from Monday to Friday at 7,50 am. The main protagonist is Piggley Winks, an elderly pig who lives in America and tells the story of his life to his 3 grandsons Sean, Seamus and Meg relating to the period of 1950, when during his childhood he was able to experience life and games at open air, inside a farm in the Irish countryside, where each day represented an adventure and a new discovery of nature. In the flashback of his story we find little Piggley Winks at the age of 8 when he lived with his father Padrig, his mother Elly and little sister Molly aged 5. Like all children of his age, Piggley Winks also went to school and played with his friends, and in particular with Fernando Toro (an anthropomorphic bull who loves sandwiches) and Dannand O'Mallard (a chocolate-hungry duck). Among the various activities, the three enjoyed playing space monsters, with a small wooden cart that they used as a spaceship.Piggley WinksPiggley also took it into his head to fly the little wagon, in order to get to the moon and for this reason he decided to get the propulsive thrust ... from the hens! Needless to say, it ended in failure, so they decided to try with the fearsome mangy Goat, but even in this case they ended up flying only over the bushes. The revolutionary idea came from Piggley Winks when he decided to mount the wheels to the wagon, taking them from his sister Molly's toy pram, after a long negotiation, but even in this case, despite the long run up exploiting the slope of the hill, there was no the desired outcome. These memories surfaced when the now elderly Fernando went to America, to pay a visit to his old friend Piggley, on the occasion of his birthday and giving him the very old cart, which gave reason to the three grandchildren to receive the story of a nice story of friendship. Among the various characters that make up the farm we find the master Mister Hornsby, a goat who loves playing the violin, Mrs Nanny the shop assistant of a haberdashery shop, Fergal O'Hopper a little 6-year-old rabbit who loves to paint, Piggley WinksDon Toro, Fernando's father, a blacksmith of extraordinary strength and Molly's friend, Katrina Ferrell, an 8-year-old kitten who loves licorice.Whatever they do, Piggley, Dannan and Ferny find a way to turn the everyday into something absolutely fantastic. Sometimes they can solve problems on their own, others need help from relatives, friends or teachers.
The Adventures of Piggley Winks reflects trends in the latest psychology research supporting the benefits children receive from hearing a story. The series was made with the advice of Iris Sroka, a noted developmental psychologist, who has worked for several award-winning children's series.

The series, created in computer graphics by the English studios Entara, tells the adventures of the brave piglet Piggley Winks and his friends on an Irish farm in the 50s. At the beginning and end of each episode, Piggley, now a grandfather, remembers his childish pranks and turns them into stories, thus giving fun life lessons to the three wild grandchildren of the city, the twins Sean and Seamus and the little girl. Meg. Whatever they do, Piggley, Dannan and Ferny find ways to turn their everyday into something fantastic. The three friends love to play transforming hay bales into a pirate raft, go fishing and try to turn a donkey into a racehorse! That way, it's not uncommon for them to get into trouble. Sometimes they manage to solve problems on their own, others need help from relatives, friends or teachers. Through the stories of Grandpa Piggley, the three grandchildren learn the satisfaction that comes from hard work, get used to facing fears and insecurities and experience the joy of using their imaginations by appreciating the unique abilities of each of them and, of course, there. immense wisdom of the Grandfather.
