“Pinocchio” the animated and live-action Disney film by Zemeckis from 2022
Disney + has released the poster for its upcoming live-action adaptation of Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio and has set for Thursday 8 September the release date of the film that sees Tom Hanks in the role of Geppetto. The release is scheduled for Disney + Day, an introduction to the popular D23 Expo which will be held September 9-11 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
Oscar-winning director Robert Zemeckis (film Forrest Gump, The Polar Express, Cast Away, Back to the Future ) directs the live reinterpretation of Carlo Collodi's beloved story of a wooden puppet who dreams of becoming a real boy. Hanks plays Geppetto, a carpenter who builds and treats Pinocchio (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) as if he were his son. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is Jiminy Cricket, who serves as Pinocchio's guide as well as his "conscience"; Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo is the Blue Fairy; Keegan-Michael Key is "honest" John; Oscar nominee Lorraine Bracco is Sofia the Seagull, a new character, and Luke Evans is the coachman. Also in the cast are Kyanne Lamaya as Fabiana (and her puppet Sabina), Giuseppe Battiston as Señor Stromboli and Lewin Lloyd as Lampwick.
The screenplay for the film was written by Zemeckis and Chris Weitz. The film is produced by Zemeckis, Weitz, Derek Hogue and Andrew Miaono. DNEG, Halon, MPC, Framestore and Imagemovers are all listed as companies involved with the visual effects and animation of the project.

Fans of the wooden baby can also expect the animated stop-motion version of the short story by Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson, which will arrive on Netflix in the fourth quarter. That version of the story, which has a tone closer to Carlo Collodi's original disturbing tale, sees David Bradley as Geppetto, Gregory Mann as Pinocchio, Ewan McGregor as Sebastian J. Cricket, Finn Wolfhard as Lampwick , Cate Blanchett, Tilda Swinton, John Torturo, Christoph Waltz, Ron Perlman and Tim Blake Nelson.
