Poison Ivy will make her entry into the Batwoman series

Ryan Wilder is graduating from the big league.

While The CW's new Batwoman stood up to characters like Black Mask and Safiyah last season, she's about to take on one of the Dark Knight's greatest and deadliest adversaries: Poison Ivy. It was revealed today that actress Bridget Regan was cast in the role of Pamela Isley in Batwoman in a version of the character that promises to bring her back to her evil ... er, roots.

Here's what Regan's official description about Ivy has to say: A former Gotham University botany student, Pamela Isley was a passionate and brilliant scientist with a mind to change the world for the better. But her plans changed when she was experimented with by a co-worker, injected with various plant toxins that turned her into Batman's infamous villain: Poison Ivy. With formidable power coursing through her veins, Pamela used her powers to do what she felt was right… even if Batman and those closest to her disagreed with her dangerous methods. Now that she has actually been knocked off the board for years, the bat team must prepare for Poison Ivy's return with a vengeance.

It's unclear right now if Ivy will be next season's "big villain", a support villain like Season XNUMX's Hush, or something in between. However, bringing a well-known and notorious Gotham scoundrel to The CW series will raise the show's profile among more casual Batman fans and offer Ryan of Javia Leslie his most formidable challenge. (Fortunately, he will have a little more help than last season now that Luke Fox has officially graduated from Batwing.)

Regan has a long history of working on television, with major recent roles in shows such as Paradise Lost, Jane the Virgin e The last ship. while she Batwoman role will mark her first stint as a DC character, it won't be her first foray into the realm of superheroes and villains: she played Dottie Underwood in two memorable seasons of ABC Agent Carter. Plus, Regan won't be the first actress to bring Poison Ivy to life on the small screen. Ivy has been played in live action by three different actresses over the past eight years… all on the same show. Gotham introduced the character as a child before aging her, with the result that Clare Foley, Maggie Geha and Peyton List embody the role at different times. More recently, Ivy was indelibly voiced by Lake Bell in the HBO animated series Max harley quinn.

For now, however, let us know what you think of this novelty! Are you excited to see Dr. Isley come to life? Batwoman? Do you think it will be strictly evil, or will it eventually bypass the line as it has in so many recent performances? And who else would you like to see mix things up with Ryan and Luke? Let us know your thoughts on all of this in the DC Community and keep an eye on DCComics.com for more Batwoman news how it breaks!

The first two seasons of Batwoman are now streaming on HBO Max!
