The history of Redakai

A new hero has appeared on the Italian screens in the most classic representation of the struggle of Good against Evil: it is Ky Stax and his team, whose task is that of researching and collecting the Kairu energy. It is a French-Canadian cartoon, produced by Marathon Media and Spin Master, which tells the adventurous story of 15-year-old Ky Stax, a Kairu warrior and a promising student of the powerful Redakai Masters of the Earth who, together with his friends Maya and Boomer (the other components the Stax team) must make a series of journeys (some of which also intergalactic) in search of Kairu, the vital energy that guides the universe and that if it ends up in the hands of evil could become a destructive force. Ky and her friends must be able to find the Kairu energy before their opponents: the E-Teen; these fearsome aliens, also teenagers, hail from the darkest points of the galaxy and are ready to do anything to secure life force on behalf of their undisputed leader: the evil Lokar.
The Kairu energy that the Stax team and the E-teens strive for is a great life force that acts as a guide for the whole universe; it has such a power that it can be destructive like anything else and is able to control every type of matter present in the universe; this energy is essential for the Kairu warriors (who are the only ones who can control it) as it allows them to acquire other weapons for their alter-forms; whoever learns to exercise this energy for Good becomes a Kairu Warrior, and can aspire to join the ranks of the most powerful Kairu Masters: the Redakai.
But why is the Stax team looking for this energy?
It all begins in the distant planet Nevrod, cradle of vital energy and from the council of the Redakai masters, of which Lokar also belongs; at a certain point Lokar instead of using his powers for the cause of good, begins to use the Kairu for evil deeds deciding to exploit the Kairu energy to his exclusive advantage and thus becoming a serious danger. From the beginning Lokar, together with the other Master Boaddani, demonstrated skill and intelligence in the practice of Kairu, but the more he trained and became aware of the force of energy, the more he acquired a more destructive power and strength than ever.

Despite having followed the same training Kairu, Lokar and Boaddai had become opposites and after their confrontation Lokar was expelled from the council. By plotting revenge, he definitely transforms his Kairu energy into evil energy.
When Lokar discovers the location where the Vessel of Kairu is located, he wages a war that results in the destruction of the planet and the dispersion of Kairu energy on Earth. Connor Stax, Ky's beloved father, the warrior Kairu who had the great honor of guarding and protecting the Vessel of Kairu, in an attempt to find a safe hiding place for it, safe from Lokar's hands, sends the Vessel to Earth. the only person he could trust: the master Boaddai, this just when Lokar launches the final attack with the intent of taking over.
As a consequence of this event, in addition to the complete destruction of the planet Nevrod, Connor disappears becoming a legendary hero and the vessel in contact with the Earth's atmosphere shatters, dispersing the Kaiuru energy throughout the planet.
From this moment on, Lokar and Boaddani try to recover this energy through their disciples who form different Teams: Lokar sends three teams of extraterrestrial teenagers to our planet, the E-Teen, which he personally prepares by giving each team lethal powers, and the experience in the art of Kairu; these E-Teen warriors are therefore ready for anything to accomplish their mission: to get their hands on as much Kairu energy as possible.

Boaddani has with him, however, Ky, his companions and his friends Maya and Boomer, who form the Stax team he created and trained himself. Ky Stax can be considered the leader and leader of Team Stax and was sent by his father to train on Earth at the sage Boaddai since he was a child. After the advent of the great cataclysm, his fate was already sealed: to continue in the footsteps of his father and protect Kairu from Lokar. Ky, like every Kairu warrior, has his own alter-ego which he transforms into at the moment of battle and his name is PLASMA METANOID, with SEISMIC FRACTUS completing the combo attack and being able to produce and control plasma, to destroy evil with the power of the sun with exclusive attacks such as plasma sword, plasma-energy blast, jet jump.
Maya, the second member of the team, was raised by master Boaddai since he found her as a child, abandoned on the doorstep, adopting her; the girl considers the teacher as her grandfather, but she wants to know more about her past also because of some adventures that happen to her with the Team: Maya is in fact the only one who, during a single episode, is overwhelmed by the powers of Lokar and help one of the evil teams, Zor's Radikor team, search for the Kairu energy; precisely in this episode, set in the Egyptian pyramids, we note how the girl is particularly good at using reason, and how her wit and her ability to reflect are very strong, all qualities that at the beginning are lacking both in Ky and in Bloome.

Boomer with Froztok
Boomer with Froztok
Redakai - Spin Master / Marathon Media, 2011.

Maya's alter-ego is Harrier's Hyper Hurricane, which is preparing for battle with the agility of an eagle and the tenacity of a Kairu warrior and her exclusive attacks are the hyper-hurricane, the excruciating whirlwind and the sharpshooter sight.
Boomer is Ky's best friend, met when he was a student of Baoddai after leaving home at a young age to follow the training of master Kairu; Boomer is the element of the group that allows the easing of any critical situation thanks to his spirit of adaptation and above all to his great sense of humor: his sympathy is in fact the third element that completes the Stax team as it acts as a perfect counterweight to Ky's swagger and Maya's rationality. Bloomer's alter ego is Froztok, the toughest glacial extra-human entity imaginable, capable of instantly freezing anything. His unique attacks are the hailstorm Froztok (or alternatively the freezing ray), the darks-lightning and the northern explosion.

The task of the Stax team is therefore to collect the Kairu energy that has dispersed on Earth; this energy has penetrated into various forms that the boys must recover during each mission, during which, however, they find themselves having to face one of the E-teenagers.

Some episodes of Redakai

Zylus with Magnox
Zylus with Magnox
Redakai - Spin Master / Marathon Media, 2011.

In the episode "the Fist of the Colossus”The Kairu energy is found inside a large stone in the shape of a fist and is in the hands of shady individuals who have enslaved the inhabitants of the island; the three boys first have to fight against the Battacor team, led by Zylus who is the mind of the team with powerful muscles and great aggression. Zylus often makes fun of his teammates, who forces him to follow his own suggestions, not hesitating to deceive them to be obeyed and this is because he has an immeasurable self-confidence which, however, often leads him to exaggerate in attacks against the Stax team. Zylus' favorite alter-monster is Magnox, with his mechanical magnetic tornado attack. The Battacor team also includes Rynoh, who acts as the team's coach and nutritionist, dedicating all his efforts to maintaining perfect shape for himself and the rest of the team; to counter the physical arrogance of Zylus, within the group he shows off an infinite preparation, even if in reality he only knows perfectly the sports statistics. Rynoh's favorite alter-ego monster is SPYKOR, with its NEURAL EXPLOSION mechanical attack. Bash is the last member of the Battacor team and he is huge, the toughest, biggest and baddest of this team of tough, big and bad guys but, as often happens, brute strength does not go hand in hand with cunning and intelligence always showing its stupidity.
His favorite monster is DRUDGER, with his scrap-harvested mechanical attack.

Princess Diara with Knight Asp
Princess Diara with Knight Asp
Redakai - Spin Master / Marathon Media, 2011.

In the episode "La maschera di ferro“The Stax team must recover the Kairu energy trapped inside a mask that the Indians worship as the protective goddess from the fury of a volcano's eruptions; during the research he meets and clashes with the E-teen Imperiaz led by Koz. Koz is strong and powerful and has his head on his shoulders; he is the real strategist of the team formed together with his two sisters, Princess Diara and Teeny. Among the three teams trained by Lokar, this is the one she was forced to fight: in fact Koz and his sisters fight for evil against their will because their parents, a king and a queen, were kidnapped by Lokar, who blackmails the team with a promise to free them. Koz's alter-monster is Ocelot, who attacks with rending claws.
Diara, while always showing herself to be very snobbish (long well-kept blond hair, lipstick always present and with the mirror always at hand) has a real warrior inclination, with a large number of innate Kairu skills that make her an opponent fearsome and very dangerous, but he fights reluctantly in the hope, one day, of finding his parents and hoping that he can return to his castle as soon as possible; she is the one who apparently gives orders but behind most of the decisions taken there is always the reasoning of her brother. Princess Diara's signature monster is Knight Asp, with his beastly poison attack.
Teeny is the second in age of the Imperiaz brothers and she is quarrelsome, stubborn, brash, she says what she thinks without mincing words, sometimes even exaggerating; he reacts impulsively, sometimes causing problems for the team, but his speed and self-control in Kairu attacks are fundamental factors for the team.

Zane and Bruticon
Zane with Bruticon
Redakai - Spin Master / Marathon Media, 2011.

Teeny's signature monster is Warnet, with her laser sting attack Ky and her team encounter several times during their adventures, the most fearsome of the E-teen, the Radikor; these are led by Zane, the only one of all the members of the various teams able to beat Ky in a direct one-on-one battle of Kairu. Zane is strong, treacherous and angry, but above all he is the most powerful of Lokar's warriors both from the point of view of concentration and from the point of view of strategy (he is not afraid to fight against the rules and often does so, especially if this means beating Ky and the Stax team), both from the standpoint of reliability and skill. Zane has a deep rivalry with Ky Stax, born from their first meeting during the training period to learn the art of Kairu and that time has done nothing but rise and rise. His alter-monster is Bruticon, which attacks with his anti-matter mechanical beam and is the exact opposite of Ky's Metanoid
The Radikor team is the one that most creates problems for Ky; in fact it can be considered the mirror team of the Stax team, both as components (the leader, a girl and a strong partner) and as a preparation for battle.
The Radikor team is therefore formed, in addition to Zane, by Zair who in addition to being his sister is above all his strong right arm. Zair is very intelligent and treacherous, an evil version of Maya, but without some of the characteristics of the latter. She is strong in character because, even if she collaborates well with her brother, she is not afraid to challenge Zane's authority, especially if this attitude leads her to think that it could increase her value and her credibility in the eyes of Lokar. Zair's signature alter-ego monster is Cyonis, with his elemental Lightning Strike attack.
Bloomer's correspondent on the Radikor team is Techris; he is the brute force member of the team and is the youngest and most reliable of the Radikor; he hates being beaten and tries to avoid him at all costs and this propensity, which at first glance may seem a virtue, actually causes crazy and senseless behavior, damaging the plans of Zane and Zair both during research and during the fighting.
Techris' signature monster is Silverbaxx, with his beastly Earthquake attack that jumps opponents

Ky and Maya
Ky and Maya
Redakai - Spin Master / Marathon Media, 2011.

One of the key episodes in which the two teams clash is the one entitled "Connor Stax's newspaper”In which the Radikor find a device that only the Kairu warriors have, and it is the one that allows the warrior to be able to take the Kairu energy and, eventually, to transform into his alter ego; at the same time the Stax team detects the same source and Ky gets the idea that his father did not die in the great cataclysm, but that he somehow survived and is seeking help. Master Boaddani, however, extinguishes this enthusiasm by explaining that it would be a real miracle if Connor were still alive, given the dynamics of the events that took place during Lokar's attack on the planet Nevrod. Ky does not accept this version of the facts and leaves all alone for the mountain where the device was located, managing to find it and being able to see its contents: it is the message of Captain Connor Stax before the great cataclysm. Ky fights against Zane and the Radikor team and is beaten by falling into a cliff; in the fall he manages to keep his father's device but loses his own. Locked in a cave, Ky listens to his father's entire message, with the related closing phrase "Ky I love you so much" and discovers that it was the evil Lokar who found his father and made him disappear. Maya and Bloomer meanwhile discover Ky's absence and join him, but they find the Radikor team to welcome them. Ky manages to join the two companions but Zane harnesses Ky's energy and transforms into Ky's alter ego, Metanoid. Maya and Bloomer try to face Zane but fail as the latter is validly backed by both Techris and Zair; while the two are about to have the worst, Ky uses his father's device to transform first into Metanoid Gold (failing because, as Master Boaddai will explain later, he is not yet a complete Kairu warrior) and then into his father's alter ego , thus defeating Zane, taking back his own device and delivering that of his father to the master Boaddai.
Boaddai, wise and powerful Redakai, is in fact the trainer, the guardian and the guide of the young Ky Stax and his companions Maya and Boomer, guiding his young students in the search for the Kairu energy, teaching them the art of Kairu warriors. . Boaddai is always calm and relaxed and sees the facts for what they are and not for what they seem and his dedication to the role of Redakai, is granite and nothing can stop him from protecting the universe from Lokar, with whom he had an epic. clash in the past and its evil.

Ky and Maya
Boomer
Redakai - Spin Master / Marathon Media, 2011.

The adventures of the young Kairu warriors take place in all continents, on land, in the sea and in the mountains, up to the call of the Redakai Masters of the Earth for the Kairu Warrior Championship, the challenge that establishes who among the various warriors can boast by Warrior Kairu Champion. At the same time a figure approaches a castle in the frozen wastelands; it is Captain Connor Stax who, as his son Ky hoped, did not die in the great cataclysm but must undertake an even greater mission; defeat Lokar and his evil by taking away the Kairu energy he possessed for cruel purposes.
The four teams (Stax, Imperaz, Radikor and Battacor) must therefore fight each other in the arena of the Redakai Masters in two rounds; the first to fight are the Radikor against the Imperiaz, with the latter being soundly beaten, and then the Battacor team against the Stax team, with Boomer managing to avoid defeat by protecting his friends.
Lokar, predicting the defeat of all his teams, manages to get around Maya for the second time, revealing that she is his true grandfather, and giving an explanation to a whole series of questions that Maya herself asked herself.
Connor Stax meanwhile, penetrates Lokar's fortress and, evading the guard of evil spirits, manages to find Lokar's Kairu energy.
The Stax team must fight the Radikor and only thanks to Ky's tenacity and the leap in quality that he manages to make by transforming himself into Metanoid Gold, the Radikor are defeated.
It is therefore necessary to choose who, in the Stax team, can be raised to the level of champion Kairu and Lokar takes the mind of Maya who fights against Ky even while Captain Connor enters the arena manifesting himself to all the Kairu Masters who believed him dead and above all to the son Ky.
