Disney + Live-Action production on Cip & Ciop special agents is underway

Disney Animation's famous and intrepid squirrel brothers Chip and Dale will be the next beloved cartoon to receive the “live-action” treatment. Filming of the hybrid adaptation of the 90s series cip & Dale special agents (chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers) will start next spring. The project was produced as part of the original Disney + movie.

The new film will be directed by The Lonely Island member Akiva Schaffer (Pop stars: Never Stop Stopping, The Watch, Hot Rod), written by Dan Gregor and Doug Mand (how I Met Your Mother), and produced by David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman (The Muppets, The beauty and the Beast [2017]). The DisInsider, who reported the production update, says series voices Tress MacNeille (Chip, Gadget), Corey Burton (Dale, Zipper), and Jim Cummings (Monterey Jack) are expected to reprise their roles.

cip & Dale special agents (chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers) was created by Tad Stones and Alan Zaslove, produced by Walt Disney Television Animation, and aired on the Disney Channel from 1989 to 1990 (reprized until 1993 on Disney Afternoon). The series re-proposes the popular cartoon duo that first appeared in 1943 with the cartoon Private Pluto where they act like two private investigators dealing with solving crimes "too small" to be handled by the police. The Rescue Rangers agency also included mechanical wizard Gadget Hackwrench (a mouse), adventurer Monterey “Monty” Jack (also a mouse) and Zipper, Monty's house fly.

You can watch the complete series (presented as a single season), remastered in HD, on Disney +.
