Ron Marz and Ron Lim reunite for the limited series SILVER SURFER: REBIRTH

In 1991, the comic book author Jim Starlin started working on the Glove of Infinity, and so he relinquished the reins of writing duties to the Silver Surfer current title for writer Ron Marzo. The novice writer began what would eventually be considered a seminal run on Sentinel of the Spaceways alongside numerous artists, but starting in Ron lim, a legend in its own right. Marvel today announced that the writer-artist duo is reuniting for Silver Surfer: Rebirth (Silver Surfer: Rebirth), a limited series of five issues. While not included in the official press release, based on the cover the art team appears to include the inking of Don Ho and the colorist  Israel Silva.

Silver Surfer: Rebirth follows in the vein of X-Men: Legends and the recently announced Ben ReillySpider-Man series that feature "reimagining of the greatest creators in Marvel comic history their historic races for new insights and revealing adventures". As Marvel described the series:

Someone has stolen the Reality Gem, an item that allows the user to satisfy any desire, regardless of the consequences! But whoever caught it is doing things like bringing the dead hero Captain Mar-Vell back to life. It's up to the Silver Surfer to work with the least likely of the allies, Thanos, to find the gem and restore reality to its proper form!

Marz discussed what it means to go back to a character who helped define his early career:

“It turns out that you Power come home, ”Marz said. “SILVER SURFER with Ron Lim was literally my first job in the comics. The first comic page I ever wrote was drawn by Ron when we were both children. And now, three decades later, we can go back there and slip into the same rhythm again. It is fantastic to be able to exercise cosmic power again ”.

Likewise, artist Ron Lim discussed what it means to reunite with Marz.

“I'm so excited to write SILVER SURFER: REBIRTH in pencil,” Lim said. “When Darren Shan, our editor, asked me if I was interested in working on this with Ron Marz, I jumped at the chance. It's great to work with Ron again. It's been a while since we last worked together, but it seems like it hasn't been nearly a day. I'm having a lot of fun drawing many of my favorite characters from our race. The story is full of surprises, familiar characters and insane cosmic action! I can't wait for the readers to take a look at the book, I hope they enjoy it as much as I enjoy drawing it! "
