Rumic World - Fire Tripper - The 1985 film

Rumic World - Beyond the flames (Fire Tripper) (original Japanese title: 炎 ト リ ッ パ ー, Honoo Torippā, which literally means "fire-breathing") is a Japanese manga by Rumiko Takahashi published in the August 1983 issue of Shōnen Sunday Zōkan. The manga was later compiled into the Rumic World books, available in English from Viz Media. It was adapted into an OVA of the anime. In North America, this was released on VHS by Central Park Media under the Rumik World series (which also included OVA Laughing Target, Maris the Chojo and Mermaid Forest).

History

The main character of the series is Suzuko, an ordinary Japanese student of modern times, but she has a strange memory of being trapped in a burning house when she was little. One day, while Shuhei, the son of the neighbor whose appendix has recently been removed, is returning home, a huge gas explosion occurs.

When Suzuko wakes up, she finds herself on a battlefield in civil war-era Japan, with corpses all around her. Some men find her on the field and try to rape her.

However, a young man named Shukumaru comes to Suzuko's rescue. After Suzuko is rescued, Shukumaru takes Suzuko back to her village. He is the thief / protector of the village. Upon their arrival there, Shukumaru gives his little sister, named Suzu, a bell. He also claims that he will marry Suzuko.

Shukumaru tells Suzuko that she has to change her clothes and, at this point, Suzuko comes across Shuhei's shirt. She then realizes that Shuhei must have traveled back in time with her. She tries to find him but cannot locate him.

The villagers make fun of Shukumaru that he hasn't slept with Suzuko yet, and he is terribly offended. One night he gets drunk and goes to Suzuko's hut, but does nothing but fall asleep.

Suzuko soon realizes that she is actually the village girl named Suzu and that she was born in Shukumaru's time. She is very worried about this, as she has fallen in love with Shukumaru and cannot marry him if they are brothers. When the village is burned, she sees her past self disappear into the future, where she will be adopted and raised as a modern girl.

Shortly thereafter, the leader of the invaders attacks Shukumaru and Suzuko rescues him by disappearing into the future, where she realizes that the fire allows her to travel through time, and that's how she survived the fire in the house she remembers being when she was. little, and how it came to modern times.

When she returns to modern times, Suzuko takes Shukumaru home to take care of her injuries and notices that she has a scar on her stomach which is exactly like Shuhei's appendix scar. Suzuko realizes that Shukumaru is Shuhei and must have been separated from her half the time ago. Shukumaru is Shuhei of the present, and has always been found and raised in the past, so he is not his biological brother. Suzuko doesn't feel guilty about what happened to Shukumaru, however, when he tells her how much he enjoyed life in the past. From there, Suzuko and Shukumaru use the same gas blast that sent them back in time the first time to go back to Shukumaru's time again, and the story ends when Shukumaru announces that they have a wedding to attend.
