Sky reveals the preview image of the movie "The Amazing Maurice"

Sky (UK) has released a first image of the character and a new teaser poster for The incredible Maurice, an original animated film produced by Sky arriving next year to mark the 20th anniversary of Sir Terry Pratchett's book (1948-2015).

This family animated film is based on the hugely popular novel Discworld and will be the protagonist Hugh Laurie like Maurizio, Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) like Malizia, David thewlis (Wonder Woman) as Boss Man, Himesh Patel  like Keith, Gemma Arterton  like Peaches, Hugh Bonneville  as Mayor, David Tennant  such as Dangerous Beans, Ariyon Bakare  like Darktan, Rob Brydon  like The Pied Piper, Julie Atherton  as a Nutrient and YouTuber Joe Sugg like Sardines.

In The incredible Maurice, Maurice is a ginger street cat who comes out with a money-making scam by befriending a group of self-taught talking mice. When Maurice and the rodents reach the affected town of Bad Blintz, they encounter a bookworm named Malicia and their little trickster soon ends up unloading.

The film is co-produced by Sky, Ulysses Filmproduktion and Cantilever Media in collaboration with Global Screen, with the animation studios Studio Rakete (Hamburg) and Red Star Animation (Sheffield). The film has the full backing of Terry Pratchett's ownership and is produced in association with Narrativia. Producers are Julia Stuart (Sky), Emely Christians (Ulysses), Andrew Baker and Robert Chandler (Cantilever Media) and Rob Wilkins (Narrativia). The film is directed by Toby Genkel, co-director is Florian Westermann, from a screenplay by Terry Rossio.

The incredible Maurice and his educated rodents is a children's fantasy by Pratchett, published by Doubleday in 2001, and has sold nearly 100 million books worldwide. It was the 28th novel of the disco world series, but the first written for children. It's a lively and fun adventure inspired by the German fairy tale about the Pied Piper of Hamelin and a parody of the fairytale genre. Pratchett won the annual Carnegie Medal for book, the highest accolade in children's literature. Despite many other awards, honorary degrees and subsequent knighthood, Pratchett always stressed that this was the award he was most proud of.

The incredible Maurice, a Sky Original will be released on Sky Cinema in 2022. The film will also be available on the NOW streaming service through the Sky Cinema subscription.
