The fastest mouse in the world made its first appearance in 1953 in the Warner Bros animated short "Cat Tails for two" directed by Robert McKimpson. Later it will make its appearance in the cartoons of Looney tunes (Rascals) and Merrie Melodies (Allegre melodie), repeatedly programmed by the television networks. Always characterized by his huge yellow sombrero and white shirt, Speedy Gonzales was made by some of the best animators of the film house, where in addition to Robert McKimpson, we find Charles Jones and Fritz Freleng, thanks to which the character wins an Oscar in the 1955. Speedy Gonzales' stories are simple but fun and see the super fast rat become the hero of the Mexican rat community, fighting the bad turn, like Sylvester cat, Daffy Duck or Pellino. Speedy Gonzales is often accompanied by a faithful friend of his who, however, is his exact opposite: the Rodriguez mouse, tall, lazy and slow that represents the classic Mexican peons. The characteristic of Speedy Gonzales cartoons is definitely the Mexican music that accompanies it in every whirlwind action, followed by the classic cry of "Arriba! Arriba! Andaleee!". The transposition to Italian comics of Edizioni Cenisio, unfortunately, does not convey all the dynamic and expressive potential of the character, however it is appreciated for its nice and captivating stories.
