Production

While working on The Mandalorian series, Dave Filoni began writing short stories about different Jedi from the prequel trilogy era. Carrie Beck, senior vice president of development and production at Lucasfilm, asked Filoni if she would turn them into a series, which she likened to her "finding the money" for a revival of her animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars on the service. of Disney+ streams. In December 2021 the series logo was included in Christmas gifts for Lucasfilm employees along with logos for the studio's upcoming film and television projects. This was also the name of an unrelated comic book series published by Dark Horse Comics in the 90s. Lucasfilm confirmed the project in April 2022 when the company announced the Star Wars Celebration schedule, with Filoni discussing the animated anthology series in a dedicated panel. This was held in late May and it was announced that the series is composed of six episodes written by Filoni and Charles Murray, each lasting approximately 15 minutes.
