“Strange Planet”: A human eye on a funny alien world
The day has finally come: a new episode of “Strange Planet”, the animated series that has captured the hearts of fans around the world, will debut today, Wednesday. After the global launch on August 9 with three episodes, the series will broadcast new chapters every week until September 27.
A world not so different from ours
Based on the New York Times bestseller and social media phenomenon of the same name, "Strange Planet" is a witty and entertaining observation of a world not too different from our own. Populated by blue beings, in an environment that plays with tones of cotton candy pink and purple, the series explores the extravagances of everyday human traditions through an alien lens.
The Sixth Episode: “Key Change”
In episode 6, titled “Key Change,” we see an elderly figure reflect on the idea of performing in a talent show. Simultaneously, the manager of "Careful Now" and a structural engineer face a journey full of dangers. One of the most poignant moments is a bathroom scene in which one being encourages another who is struggling with stage fright.
An Exceptional Cast of Voices
The cast features the likes of Gotham Award-nominated Tunde Adebimpe, Emmy-nominated Demi Adejuyigbe, Lori Tan Chinn, Critics Choice Award-nominated Danny Pudi, and Emmy-nominated Hannah Einbinder.
A High Level Creative Team
The series is co-created and executive produced by Emmy Award winner Dan Harmon known for such works as “Rick and Morty” and “Community” and Nathan W. Pyle. Produced by Apple Studios and ShadowMachine, the production team also includes award winners Alex Bulkley and Corey Campodonico, along with big names in entertainment Lauren Pomerantz and Steve Levy.
In conclusion, "Strange Planet" continues to be one of the freshest and most original animated series of the moment, offering a look as bizarre as it is accurate on everyday life. If you haven't yet made the leap to this alien yet terribly familiar world, today might be the day to do so. With new episodes on the way, there's plenty to discover and laugh about in this strange and fascinating little corner of the universe.
