TFOU team with Media Valley and Belvision for the 'Louca' series

TF1's TFOU, France's leading child blockade, has signed a development deal with Media Valley and Belvision for the animated series Crazy, based on the blockbuster comics by Bruno Dequier (published by Dupuis). The comedy-adventure animated series will consist of 26 episodes lasting 22 minutes each, aimed at children aged 6 to 10.

Dequier says ...

“How I come from the world of animation, developing an animated series Crazy it has always been one of my dreams, ”said Dequier. “It will allow us to enrich the universe of comics with totally original episodes and to deepen the characters of the series. I am very excited that TF1 is our partner in this adventure. Their youth team immediately understood that football, despite being at the center of the story, is used as a metaphor to evoke the universal theme of success ”.

The history of Louca

The series tells the story of the extraordinary friendship of two teenagers, who couldn't be more different. Louca, a hardened bungler who brings together awkwardness, crazy ideas and unpopularity with girls in one embarrassing package; and Nathan, a beautiful and talented footballer who is also… a ghost!

When Nathan was alive, these two probably never would have talked to each other much. But fate decided otherwise. Louca is the only one who can see and hear Nathan, who will become his coach both on the football field and in daily life. The task promises to be risky and full of funny situations. How does a poorly accomplished teenager turn into a soccer star in child's play? It seems impossible, but not for Nathan. Against all odds, a strong friendship between the two boys will blossom from this ordeal!

Says Natalie Altmann…

“We are very honored by the renewed confidence of the TF1 youth team, with whom we have produced several successful animated series,” said Natalie Altmann, producer and founder of Media Valley. "Beyond the Crazy comics phenomenon, brought to life by its author Bruno Dequier who is also an animation professional. We want to explore the whole dynamic of comedy and adventure of the Louca-Nathan duo: two quite different characters united by the desire to overcome themselves and, ultimately, to 'grow' together. Our desire is to bring boys and girls closer to this theme, also enhancing the parts played by the female characters of the comics, Julie and Chloe ”.

Says Yann Labasque ...

Yann Labasque, director of youth programs at TF1, commented: “We really appreciated in this project, presented by Natalie Altmann, the fact that Crazy, which we already knew for its success in the bookstore, is not just about football, but above all about the pursuit of excellence and self-confidence. Louca is an engaging and very funny character, who faces the difficulties of growing up from child to teenager. With Louca we will follow, with humor, the daily life of a slightly different hero boy, less stereotyped but just as nice. Thanks to his hard work and determination, Louca will overcome his setbacks and take the steps towards success and self-realization. These are problems at the center of the life of children and young adolescents ”.

“We are delighted to participate in the development of this series adapted by a successful brand in the Dupuis catalog (one million albums sold in French). This animation project will allow us to take the time to get to know and become more attached to the characters who have already fascinated us so much in comics and will allow them to shine internationally ”, added Raphaële Ingberg, Producer & Managing Director of Belvision (Belgium).
