“The Great Cleric”: New details and visuals for “Meikyū Kōryaku-hen”

The world of Japanese animation never ceases to amaze us and continues to evolve offering spectacular surprises to fans. On Tuesday, the official website of “The Great Cleric“, anime adaptation of Broccoli Lion’s light novels “Seija Musō: Salaryman, Isekai de Ikiru Tame ni Ayumu Michi” (literally: The Great Cleric), has unveiled new cast members and a key never-before-seen image for its story arc.” Meikyū Kōryaku-hen” (Arc of the Conquest of the Labyrinth).

The long-awaited arc will be introduced in the seventh episode of the series, which will premiere on the ABEMA streaming service in Japan on August 24, and then air on the TBS channel on August 31.

The anime made its Japan debut on July 6. Popular streaming platform Crunchyroll is streaming the series simultaneously with its Japanese airing and is also offering an English-dubbed version.

Behind the scenes of the anime we find Masato Tamagawa, already known for “The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt”, as director, at Yokohama Animation Lab and Cloud Hearts. Keiichirō Ōchi of “Peach Boy Riverside” oversees series composition, while Guonian Wang of “Prince of Stride: Alternative” fame is in charge of character design. The opening theme song “Bagu-chan” is performed by Nasuo☆, while Yuki Nakashima sings the ending song “A New Day”.

Kodansha USA Publishing is distributing the manga adaptation of the novels, which follows a common salaryman who defies death and finds himself in another world, taking on the role of a great healer. The story, started by Broccoli Lion on the “Shōsetsuka ni Narō” website in 2015, was then published by Micro Magazine with illustrations by sime starting in 2016. J-Novel Club brought the light novels into English, while Hiiro Akikaze gave the start of the manga in 2017.

With an intriguing mix of fantastic worlds and modern themes, "The Great Cleric" is proposed as one of the anime not to be missed for all fans of the genre. We look forward to discovering the new adventures that await our salaryman in this alternate universe!
