The incomparable Lady Gomma (The New Shmoo) is an American animated television series based on the cartoon character of Li'l Abner by author Al Capp, produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions and broadcast on NBC from September 22, 1979 to November 15, 1980.

The New Shmoo aired as a half-hour standalone series from September 22 to December 1, 1979. As of December 8, 1979, the remaining five episodes of The incomparable Lady Gomma (The New Shmoo) were incorporated into the 90-minute show package Fred and Barney Meet the Shmoo which also included combined replicas of Fred and Barney Meet the Thing. Despite the show's title, Fred, Barney, the Thing, and Shmoo only met in short beats between their individual segments.

History

Similar to Scooby-Doo! Where are you? (Scooby Doo - Where Are You!) on CBS and later on ABC, the show follows a group of teens - Mickey, Nita and Billy Joe - who solve mysteries and crimes with their friend, Lady Gomma (Shmoo), a friendly bulbous creature who can stretch and shape the his body in any shape he desires. The guys worked for Mighty Mysteries Comics.
