The Legend of the Kestrel Lancers expansion coming to MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries on September 23

This second expansion requires MechWarrior 5 to the next level with more story, mechs, modes, biomes and more. Moving away from the more sandbox-style structure seen in the Heroes of the Inner Sphere expansion, the single player campaign of Legend of the Kestrel Lancers will focus on the incredible stories of the BattleTech universe.

Set during the “Fourth War of Succession,” one of the most famous conflicts in the history of the BattleTech lore, players can look forward to an epic 14-mission campaign with custom dialogue as a war of galactic proportions unfolds.

"Total war" scenarios

As the high drama unfolds above, players will be in the thick of the action with the mechs on the ground as the war rages on. Expect Urban Warfare to increase in scope with cities significantly larger in size than any Urban Center seen previously in the series.

We will also be introducing new “All-Out War” scenarios designed to give players the feeling that the huge BattleMechs they pilot are part of a larger force at play. We are also exploring new territories for mission settings. This all adds up to the new biomes of Mega City, Jungle and Tourmaline Desert and over 20 additional Mech variants.

Mech-Punch melee combat and instant Mech-Switching

Su MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries Players can also look forward to a huge free content update, also scheduled to launch on September 23, which will add hand-to-hand combat for the first time! The ability to hit and hit your mechs continued to be one of the most requested and anticipated features from our MechWarrior community and we are happy to announce that it will finally arrive in the base game.

Additionally, this update will allow players to switch between any of the AI-controlled Lance BattleMechs during a mission. While this may seem like a small update, this feature has a significant impact on gameplay, giving pilots the ability to take full control over previously AI-controlled BattleMechs instantly with the push of a button.

Work to establish your mercenary company as you explore the rebalanced inner sphere with new war zones and hubs to discover. Find and collect 7 new 'Mech heroes, 7 new frame types and 50 new' Mech variants for the base game. Customize all your 'Mechs with new weapon systems and gear! Try Beach Head mode with multiple targets and incoming artillery fire to evade. Take the battle to new planets on the extra-solar lunar biome and garrisons.
