The Animate retail store has listed the cover of the ninth volume of the manga's compiled book with an anime announcement. The volume will be shipped on Thursday.

Viz Media licensed the manga and describes the story:

The adventure is over, but life goes on for an elf wizard who is just starting to learn what life is. The elven sorceress Frieren and her brave companions in adventure have defeated the Demon King and brought peace to the land. But Frieren will long outlive the rest of her former party. How will she understand what life means to the people around her? Decades after their victory, the funeral of one of her friends confronts Frieren with her near immortality. Frieren sets out to fulfill the last wishes of his companions and finds himself starting a new adventure ...
Yamada and Abe launched the manga in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in April 2020. The eighth volume was released on June 17. The fantasy story follows the travels of Frieren, an elf who once embarked on perilous adventures to defeat evil with his faithful companions. When peace comes, she carries the weight of the long-lived race and sees his friends die in front of her one by one. At the same time as he mourns aging and the disappearance of old relationships, he creates valuable new relationships in his travels.

Additionally, the manga was nominated for Best Shōnen Manga for Kodansha's 45th Annual Manga Awards in 2021 and 46th award in May.
