Marvel's Midnight Suns video game unveiled at Gamescom

During the Opening Night Live at Gamescom, 2K games debuted Marvel's Midnight Suns, a tactical role-playing video game featuring supernatural heroes and villains from the Marvel Universe. The video game is developed by Firaxis Games, the developer of XCOM.

As reported by Polygon, midnight suns will feature heroes typically associated with the Marvel Comics footprint, including Robbie Reyes Ghost Rider, Blade, and Doctor Strange, as well as other magic users such as Nico Minoru and Magik. The game will also include Iron Man, Captain America, Captain Marvel, and Wolverine, which will likely make the video game more marketable.

Despite sharing a developer with XCOM, Marvel's Midnight Suns, will not share any game mechanics with the legendary tactics franchise, according to an interview with the head of development Jake Solomon. The biggest breakthrough will come in how players improve and level up their skills, which will result in "downtime" between missions where players can interact and build relationships with other heroes in the game:

“Robbie Reyes, the new Ghost Rider, may want to play video games. Captain Marvel may want to fight with you. Tony Stark may want to go play cards, ”Solomon said. “Choose how to go out with them, choose how to talk to them, give them gifts. There are also social clubs around the Abbey that you can join and that influence your friendships with the heroes. […] Some of these are rather light-hearted the story is quite dark. "
