The film "You Are Not What I Expected" will be presented at the Cartoon Movie

For the first time, France TV Distribution will present a feature film as both co-producer and distributor, having just announced that it has added You are not what I expected (You're Not the One I Expected) to its list of movie offerings. The stop-motion project will be presented at the Cartoon Movie in Bordeaux this week.

You are not what I expected (original title, Ce n'est pas toi que j'attendais) is the latest from Swiss director Claude Barras, whose debut film La mia vita da zucchina (2016) won numerous awards, including two César Awards (Best Animated Film, Best Adapted Screenplay), two Annecy Awards (Cristal for Best Feature Film, Audience Award), the European Film Award for Best Film. animation, as well as being nominated for Oscar, Golden Globe and three Annie Awards. The new film is produced by Sombrero Films (France).

Synopsis When Julien discovers that his newborn daughter, Rose, is suffering from undiagnosed Down syndrome, his entire world collapses. How can she cope with his daughter's handicap? Will he be able to love her fully, even if she is not the child he expected of her? Supported by his eldest daughter Alice, guided by her innocence and her infinite benevolence, the young father finds the strength to overcome his anger and walk the difficult road that will lead him to unconditional love and acceptance of his son.

Still under development, You are not what I expected (You're Not the One I Expected) will be presented on Cartoon Movie by Schulte and Sombrero Films producer Alain Benguigui on Wednesday 9 March.

The project is co-produced by Helium Films (Switzerland), written by Christelle Berthevas with the artistic direction of Cécile Bidault.
