The story of the manga anime Kageki Shojo !!

Kageki Shojo !! is a Japanese manga by Kumiko Saiki. It was serialized as Kageki Shojo! on the magazine seinen manga Vai Kai from 2012 to 2014 and was collected in two tankōbon volumes. It was later re-released as Kageki Shojo !! Season Zero in a single tankōbon volume by Hakusensha in March 2019. A Saiki manga sequel has been serialized in Hakusensha's shōjo manga magazine Melody since 2015. It has been collected in ten volumes. The reissue and sequel are licensed in North America by Seven Seas Entertainment. An adaptation of the Pine Jam anime television series premiered on July 4, 2021.

History

After being forced to graduate from JPX48 following a controversial incident with a male fan, Ai Narata vows to never interact with another man again. Using her talent and strong desire to get away from men, Ai auditions for the exclusive, all-female Kouka School of Musical and Theater Arts. The school is renowned for producing the best actresses who perform in the famous all-female Kouka Theater Troupe. Hailing from the idol industry, Ai is the perfect candidate for the school's XNUMXth generation class, but her aloof demeanor pulls her away from her classmates.

The eccentric Sarasa Watanabe is the only person who wishes to become friends with Ai. She joins Kouka with the aim of becoming one of the best performers of “otokoyaku”, an actress who plays traditionally male roles.The Rose of Versailles when she was younger, Sarasa dreams of one day performing as Lady Oscar. Unfortunately, Sarasa's inability to understand a situation causes friction between her and her classmates, including Ai, who reluctantly becomes her roommate and partner in many of their classes.

Succeeding at Kouka will need more than just raw talent as jealousy, deceit and the harsh reality of the show test their mental strength. Will Sarasa and Ai be able to climb to the top and stand on the silver bridge?

An adaptation of an anime television series, also titled Kageki Shojo !! , was announced in the December 28, 2020 issue of Melody magazine. The series is animated by Pine Jam and directed by Kazuhiro Yoneda, with Tadashi Morishita taking care of the composition of the series, Takahiro Kishida drawing the characters and Tsuneyoshi Saito composes the music of the series. It premiered on July 4, 2021 on AT-X and other channels. The opening theme "Hoshi no Orchestra" (Starry Orchestra) is performed by the three-member band saji, while the closing theme "Hoshi no Tabibito" (Stellar Traveler) is performed by Sayaka Senbongi and Yumiri Hanamori. Funimation licensed the series.
