The theatrical version of & # 39; Sponge on the Run & # 39; disappears; PVOD debut set for 2021
Paramount Pictures is cutting the expected The SpongeBob Movie: Escape Sponge of its theatrical release schedule, as COVID-19 uncertainties continue to disrupt the film's business. Sources told Deadline that the photo, directed by Tim Hill and with a complete makeover for SpongBob and his friends Bikini Bottom, courtesy of Mikros Animation, will now be released straight home on PVOD in early 2021 before arriving at CBS. All Access.
Sponge on the run Initially, Memorial Day weekend was scheduled to hit theaters before being rescheduled for August 7th.
A follow Spongebob's movie (2004; $ 141 million worldwide) and hybrid film Sponge out of the water (2015, $ 325,1 million), Sponge on the run marks the full-screen debut of the beloved cartoon Nickelodeon. Starring series stars Tom Kenny, Bill Fagerbakke, Clancy Brown, Rodger Bumpass, Carolyn Lawrence, Mr. Lawrence, Jill Tilley, Mary Jo Catlett and Lori Alan, along with famous co-stars Awkwafina, Reggie Watts, Matt Berry, Snoop Dogg and Keanu Reeves, the film sends SpongeBob and Patrick on an epic road rescue trip to the Lost City of Atlantic City to save the beloved pet of our thrilling yellow hero, Gary, "caught in the snail" by Poseidon.
