Vancouver Animation School expands to Brazil

Vancouver Animation School (VANAS), the largest educational institution of its kind in Canada, will open its first class for Brazilian students residing in the country and with special scholarships in September. Before the official opening, the institution will host a free professional animation workshop with an online seminar format specially designed for Brazil.

The online event will take place on two Saturdays, July 31 and September 4, at 10:00 Pacific Time (14:00 Brazil Time), and will be broadcast live on the Zoom platform. The agenda of the event is that professionals and interested parties understand the notions of 3D animation and concept art with the presentation of the school to the Brazilian public.

Founded in 2010, Vancouver Animation School is a fully accredited online school offering advanced programs for the animation, visual effects and video game industry. The company offers professional certificates, degrees, and university pathways in a variety of fields of art and technology, media and design. In 2013, VANAS became the first 100% online institution to be fully accredited by the Private Career Training Institutions Agency (PCTIA), a regulatory body in British Columbia, Canada. The institute often offers free tutorials on its YouTube channel.

The webinar brings Vancouver Animation School methodology, as well as animation concepts with faculty head Calvin Leduc, a former Disney animator. He has worked on several studio animations such as Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (1988) and Mulan (1998). Another prominent name is illustrator Todd Marshall (Jurassic Park ), which will teach conceptual art. Mario Pochat, CEO and founder of VANAS, who worked as an animator on Garfield: A tail of two kittens (2006) and the game Dead Rising 3 (2013), also participates.
