History

The anime is set in the future where the Earth is unified under a world government called the Earth Federation; and centers on young middle school student Takashi Katori and her classmate / best friend / love interest, Olivia Lawrence.

Takashi, who started out as a simple fan of online games, developed a small virtual world with his friend David from New York City, in which they played their robotic fighting game. They would play by sending data to each other using satellite technology. One day, while they were playing, a scientific experiment was conducted using the same satellite that involved the teleportation of an American plane from New York to Japan.

In a freak accident caused by an explosion during a rebellion of moon people attacking Earth, the plane that was converted to digital information was sent to the virtual world while Takashi's robot information was rematerialized into a real robot.

Takashi was arrested, but the Earth government later discovered that Dr. Godheim, a genius and evil scientist from the Moon (now a kind of abandoned colony with limited access) was behind the revolt. The government forces Takashi to pilot the virtual robot Laserion and protect the Earth along with robot pilots Sarah and Charles and their G1 and G2 robots.

Things soon change, due to the entry of an extraterrestrial named Erefan. He was captured by the ground forces and brought here to answer their questions about who he is and what kind of mission he was carrying out. But Erefan proves to be benevolent, somehow refusing to talk about his past.

But Olivia with her kindness and intelligence helps him express his repressed memories, just as she encouraged him to draw in a notebook.

It is the arrival of extraterrestrial Jack Empire that makes all things very complicated (episode 26), Erefan reveals he knows them and a lot about their evil thinking, tactics and goals. He was also dragged to the pits, witnessed their cruelty and Prime Minister Jack in the Throne Room.

The specific notebook (containing his drawings) in which the Jacks are illustrated about their appearances, mecha and behavior. Everyone sees these images: Blueheim, General Sylvester, Takashi, Olivia, Charles Danner and Sarah see what she experienced, thus realizing the terrible danger that the Jacks bring.

Then join the forces of the Earth mecha (particularly on the good side of Takashi, Charles and Sarah) to help the people of Earth against the Jacks as a pilot of the newly created G5 robot.

Even for Takashi, the war against the Jacks becomes personal when he and Olivia fall in love, only her father Steve (who was brainwashed through torture to become Jack's servant) takes her away and leaves her. actually kidnap by the Jacks.

From episodes 34 to 42 Takashi and Olivia are thus separated. Takashi follows the Jacks and the Lawrences to Kyoto, then Africa (the jungles of East Africa and then the Sahara Desert, where Sahara's sister Sofia tries to help them by blowing up the Jacks' base, only to make them move. towards the Moon.

As well as an attempt by Olivia to escape with her father, only to be thwarted by Gario, pulled in by his brainwashed father and locked up in a cell in the Jack's fortress, separating them again).

In episode 42, seeing how Takashi's fury is forcing Laserion to destroy their base and lose many robots, Gario lets her do Jack's orders and they reunite.

After several skirmishes and intense fighting between the forces of Earth and Jack (including a final duel between Takashi and Gario on their robots), the Grounders win the war on the moon and ultimately save any remaining hostages, including Steve, who was seen. the last time as he recovers with his daughter's help. Erefan with his spaceship at full capacity, thanks to the efforts of scientists, greets his Earth friends and leaves for his home world in episode 45.

The Laserion robot

Height: 35 meters; Weight: 200 tons.

Being a robot born in virtual reality, Laserion incorporates various abilities and techniques out of the ordinary for giant robots, including the ability to teleport at will to avoid attacks and summon weapons out of thin air. All weapons are called upon to materialize.

Fists: Laserion's hands can strike both physically and electrically (shock) enemies and things.
Beam Bazooka / Rifle: Laserion's primary firearm.
Lightsaber: Laserion's means of splitting enemies in two. Incorporates Takashi's Kendo skills. The handle can also evoke a rod and a whip.
Laser Cutters: Shuriken / Throwing Stars.
Laser Battle Gear: Additional armor obtained after episode 28 to fight Gario Sabang, a robot from the Jaku Empire built to counter Laserion. Similar to an American football helmet and padding, it increases the power of existing weapons and adds new ones.
Laserion can also transform into two modes: a jet fighter that can fly into space and a tank. However, the "transformation" is accomplished by taking apart and reassembling the parts of Laserion in virtual reality, rather than simply folding and locking them, as in the Transformers and many other anime robots of the time.
