Weird Market and 3D Wire Fest announce the winners of the 2021 award

The thirteenth edition of Weird Market, International Animation, Video Games and New Media Market toasts the present and future of animation with a list of winners highlighting the best short films and participating projects. This year's two-event session was held on-site at La Cárcel_Segovia Centro de Creación in Segovia, Spain from 24 September to 2 October.

In the 3D Wire Fest short film competition, Alberto Vázquez's Homeless Home (homeless at home) he won the Best National Short Film Award. The three-time winner of the Goya Prize thus adds a new recognition to his most recent work, which last June became the first Spanish short to win the Jury Prize for Best Short Film at the prestigious French festival in Annecy. The jury consisted of Polish producer Katarzyna Gromadzka, the head of the children's and youth department of the Portuguese public broadcaster (RTP) Andrea Basílio, French creator and producer Alex Laffaille and Spanish director and screenwriter José Luis Ucha.

For the Audience Award categories, Only a Child (One child only) by Simone Giampaolo (Switzerland) won the international competition, while the Spanish-Argentine co-production loop by Pablo Polledri won in the national section.

This year, Weird Market's call has resulted in a selection of 200 titles including feature films, short films, animated series, video games, web series, broadcast projects, comics and board games.

All those feelings in my belly

roped by Carmen Córdoba won the Movistar Award + Short Film Project. The prize is endowed with the acquisition of the broadcasting rights of the Movistar + short film and an amount of 9.000 euros for a period of two years (unlimited number of subscriptions), being the first year exclusively for the aforementioned channel. In addition, the work will be officially released in the 2022 or 2023 edition of Weird Market. roped  is the second short film by the Andalusian filmmaker, a rising star of the scene after having accumulated more than one hundred awards with her debut film, Roberto.

In the new talents section, the Best Young Creator Series project is Titan Tofu, by María Luquero (Spain). With this award he receives a free professional MIFA accreditation for the next edition of Annecy.

Finally, RTVE awarded three awards: Best Video Game Project has been assigned to Call of the sea (Call of the sea) Out of the Blue Games, a work set in the South Pacific in 1934 and nominated for a BAFTA Games Awards.
