The winners and medals of the 47th Student Academy Awards 2020

Today the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will honor 18 winning students from colleges and universities from around the world at the ceremony of 47th Student Academy Awards, which will be held virtually for the first time in history.

The gold, silver and bronze medal awards will be announced and presented by the experimental director Shunsaku Hayashi, Academy Award-winning animator Glen Keane, Academy Award-winning director and Student Academy Award winner in 1983 Spike Leeand directors Dawn Porter e Lulu wang. Hosted by actor-director Eugenio Derbez, the ceremony is now available on StudentAcademyAwards.org.

Gold: Red deer - Pilar Garcia-Fernandezsesma, Rhode Island School of Design

Bronze: Hamsa - Daniela Dwek, Maya Mendonca and Chrisy Baek, School of Visual Arts

A young Israeli girl is unaware of the historical conflict in which she lives. On a trip to the market, his mother reinforces the fear of the "other". However, when chaos strikes them, they find that the people she was afraid of aren't all that bad.

All Student Academy Award winning films can compete for the 2020 Oscars in the Animated Short Films, Live Action Short Films or Documentary Shorts category. Past winners have received 64 Oscar nominations and have won or shared 13 awards.

The Student Academy Awards were established in 1972 to provide a platform for emerging global talent by creating opportunities within the industry to showcase their work. The 2020 winners join previous Student Academy Award winners such as Patricia Cardoso, Pete Docter, Cary Fukunaga, Spike Lee, Trey Parker, Patricia Riggen, and Robert Zemeckis.
