Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead

“Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead” – The anime series

The anime adaptation of “Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead” (Zom 100: Zombie ni Naru Made ni Shitai 100 no Koto), based on the manga by Haro Aso and Kotaro Takata, has experienced some delays in its schedule. As officially announced, the sixth installment, which was originally scheduled for an earlier date, will now air on August 27. The seventh episode will air on September 3, followed by a recap episode on September 10. Episodes eight and nine are scheduled for September 17 and 24, respectively.

Production Delays

These changes are due to production delays. For this reason, the air dates for episodes 10-12 will be announced later. It's not the first time the series has faced delays: the fifth episode was also delayed by a week, and a special program was broadcast in its place.

International diffusion

The anime made its debut in Japan on July 9 and is available for streaming on various platforms, such as Crunchyroll, Hulu and Netflix. Viz Media has acquired the rights to distribute the anime in North America, Latin America, Australia and New Zealand.

The Production Team and the Cast

Directed by Kazuki Kawagoe and produced by the BUG FILMS studio, the anime sees Hiroshi Seko supervising the scripts and Kii Tanaka as character designer. Makoto Miyazaki is the composer of the music, while Maiko Gōda is in charge of the "music selection". KANA-BOON and Shiyui will provide the opening and ending theme song respectively.

The plot

The story follows Akira Tendo, a man who has spent years in an alienating job. When a zombie apocalypse ravages his town, Akira decides to live by a list of 100 things to do before you become a zombie. This bizarre scenario offers a social critique underlined by black humour.

In the dullness of everyday life, Akira Tendo, 24, employed at ZLM, finds himself stuck in an existence devoid of meaning and motivation. Disenchanted with his career and the monotony of life, everything changes dramatically when a zombie apocalypse, caused by experimental biological weapons, ravages Tokyo. Instead of giving in to despair, Akira sees a surprising opportunity: to live life to its fullest potential.

Determined to no longer settle for his previous life, Akira makes a "wish list" of everything he wants to do before he dies, armed with a newfound sense of purpose. In the company of his inseparable friend Kencho, he embarks on a series of eccentric and often bizarre adventures through a city overrun by zombies. From simple pleasures, like dining at starred restaurants for free, to more daring quests, like riding roller coasters and visiting haunted houses, their day is anything but ordinary.

As they navigate the dangerous streets infested with flesh-hungry zombies, they encounter other survivors, each with their own reasons for resisting. They make unlikely alliances, face their anxieties, and discover the importance of friendship and the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity.

In a world where death is just around the corner, “Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead” is a story of hope, daring, and an unexpected sense of purpose that can emerge when all seems lost. It reveals how alive we can be when we face our own mortality, celebrating life in the darkest moments.

Acknowledgments and Adaptations

The manga, which debuted in 2018, was nominated for an Eisner Award and inspired a live-action film released on Netflix on August 3.

In summary, despite the production delays, "Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead" remains a highly anticipated series, with an original concept that promises to combine horror, humor and a deep insight into human desires. Fans and newcomers alike should keep an eye out for her.
