Tobio is the son of a scientist, Tenma, who managed to give new life to the city of Metro City, making it the first flying city in history, prosperous and safe from enemies, using the energy of the Positive Blue Core, obtainable from the explosion of a neutron star. The Positive Blue Core, however, has an inverse charge, the Negative Red Core, which the mayor of the city, Stone, uses on a Robot, the Peacemaker, who begins to sow panic in the city, ending up pulverizing Tobio too. To revive it, Tenma fuses her DNA with a robot, but no longer recognizes her son in the new creature, sending it to earth. It is there that the new Tobio-robot will meet the revolutionary front of the robots, new friends who will begin to call him Astro Boy. Thanks to the help of Zog, another giant robot reactivated by the energy of the Positive Blue Core, Astro Boy will make peace with Tenma and destroy the Peacekeeper's threat by saving Metro City, of which he will then remain the paladin protecting it from future threats. . |

In the Japan of the future, after the year two thousand, Dr. Tenma, a highly esteemed scientist, suffers a very serious mourning with the death of his son Tobio in a car accident.
