THE SMELL OF SHERLOCK HOLMES

THE SMELL OF SHERLOCK HOLMESSaturday 27 November at 8,35 within the Cartoonville broadcast, will begin the cartoon series of Sherlock Holmes' nose (original title Meizzantei Holmes) with the episode "The Little Client". The series consists of 26 episodes lasting about 25 minutes each and is a guarantee of quality and exciting adventure as it was created by an undisputed master of Japanese animation: Hayao Miyazaki (it would be enough to remember "The enchanted city"," Lupine III ","Heidi","Conan the boy of the future" etc...). THE SMELL OF SHERLOCK HOLMESSherlock Holmes' flair is obviously inspired by the famous detective from Arthur Conan Doyle's detective novels, who in these cartoons is depicted in the form of a fox, while his inseparable colleague John Watson is a cute mustachioed dog. The events take place at the time of Victorian London and our detective always has to deal with the most intricate cases entrusted to him by Scotland Yard, THE SMELL OF SHERLOCK HOLMESat the head of which we find Lestrade, a presumptuous incapable dog. The number one enemy of Sherlock Holmes is undoubtedly the diabolical Professor Moriarty, also of excellent intellect, but devoted to theft and always accompanied by Smiley and Todd, two ramshackle trouble-makers henchmen. In the series there is no lack of romantic implications, which emerge from the feelings that Sherlock Holmes has towards Mrs. Hudson. In the first episode, Moriarty, he kidnaps a mint technician in order to force him to produce counterfeit banknotes. The hostage manages to send a letter to his daughter, who asks the infallible Sherlock Holmes for help.
THE SMELL OF SHERLOCK HOLMESThe production of this cartoon series was very troubled as RAI initially in 1981 entrusted the realization to the Japanese animation studio of Hayao Miyazaki's Tokio Movie Shinsha, while the basic idea of the project was entrusted to Marco Pagot (son of the famous Tony Pagot, Calimero's father). Unfortunately Miyazaki was able to produce only the first episodes as Arthur Conan Doyle's heirs disputed the use of the name of Sherlock Holmes, therefore the series was interrupted for several years. We will have to wait until 1984, to pick up the whole project that will be completed by Kyosuke Mikuriya's staff and finally broadcast both in Japan and Italy ... RAIUNO)
