The cartoon series Ace Ventura (original title Ace Ventura: Pet Detective), inspired by the film of the same name starring Jim Carrey was produced by Eleanor Kearney, thanks to the Canadian studios of Nelvana in 1996 and consists of 41 episodes each lasting 30 minutes.
Ace Ventura is a wacky detective specializing in finding lost animals, which are most often kidnapped for evil purposes by some swindler on duty. Ace features a Hawaiian shirt and a perpetually straight tuft on his head and this adds to his awkwardness. In spite of his unfriendliness, for some roccambolesco or fortuitous case, he always ends up by overcoming all difficulties and solving the most intricate cases. Due to his particular "Animal Catcher" skills, Ace Ventura is always contacted by the police when it comes to solving some animal-related cases. Ace is accompanied by his collaborator, a small chimpanzee named Spike, who helps him in the most difficult cases.
