Muteking (Todemo Senshi Muteking in the original Japanese version) is an animated television series created by Seitarô Hara and Tatsunoko Studios which aired between September 1980 and September 1981 on Fuji TV1,2.

History

One night in San Francisco, an astronomer and his son Mick (Rin Japanese version) unexpectedly saw two unidentified flying objects of extraterrestrial origin, coming from the planet Ludo. One of the flying saucers, the spacioboule, is piloted by a kind of pink octopus called Toï-Toï. He is looking for the Glutoks, bandits who had wreaked havoc on the planet Ludo and decided to conquer Earth.

To prevent the Gloutoks from succeeding in their attacks, Toï-Toï gives Mick the power to transform into a Rolling Star (Muteking), a kind of guard charged with doing justice, moving on skates and singing with disco music. Toi-Toi also entrusted him with 3 robots hidden in the spacioboule: the buldospace (looks like a rhinoceros, and can become a Jet), the carpoline (in the form of a piranha) and Conchita (in the form of a grasshopper).

Characters

Muteking: The protagonist of the story. Dress like an American skater but in an extravagant costume in red, yellow and blue. He carries a pair of roller skates and his weapon is an extendable pole with which he defeats the

Piovra brothers. Only Takoro can summon it, as Muteking is none other than Linn transformed by a special ray emitted from the octopus's mouth.

Takaro: A young pink octopus from the distant planet Tako, where the inhabitants have a similar appearance to his, is the deputy sheriff of the local police and has the task of arresting the Piovra brothers. Only then can he aspire to the post of sheriff. He is a tenacious type, determined but also clumsy and sometimes ends up getting into trouble, from which he also gets out with the help of Muteking. Despite her appearance, she has a very strong attraction to human girls, particularly a certain Sayuri (when they are in San Francisco) and then a certain Seiko (in the second part of the series, when Linn's family moves to Japan).

Linn: 12-year-old American boy, he is Takoro's best friend and the only one who can boast a secret: he is in fact Muteking, the surprising warrior who protects the Earth from attack by invaders. When not in his secret form, Linn does everything a normal kid does: go to school, walk with friends and do long skates around the park and go after girls.

The professor: Father of Linn and Sonny, he is a wacky scientist and astronomer who, knowing that Takoro is from another planet, tries to find out everything possible about the planet Tako. It has an underground laboratory inside which there is a huge telescope and a myriad of incredible inventions.

Koaru: Mother of Linn and Sonny, she is the chief of police of San Francisco: as sexy as she is determined to clean the streets of rottenness, she believes in her work and many times she takes it so seriously that she gets angry for a trifle. She doesn't believe in Muteking's existence, and when her son Linn tries to tell her, she scolds him by saying he watches too much television.

Sonny: Linn's older brother. Also a policeman, Koaru's colleague, he believes himself to be a skilled detective but he is so clumsy that he lets criminals escape under his nose. Despite this, he sometimes manages to arrest the Octopus Brothers, but they manage to escape thanks to their powers of metamorphosis. He considers the Piovra Brothers as a ruthless international terrorist organization.

Michi: Cousin of Linn and Sonny, she is a 6 year old girl. Like her cousin, she too likes to skate. It is perhaps Takoro's first love, as he is very close to her.
